Winner of small (14 people) store championship that had fierce competition (almost all top players from our area attended).

Basic game plan is to tool up Rey while keeping Luke alive for as long as possible using Force Illusion, Caution, Guard or Deflect.

Although most upgrades should go to Rey try to give Luke 2 point upgrade so eventual One With The Force on him is bit easier to cast just before he hits the bin.

Early game you should be pressuring your opponent with Luke rolls, as you have 6 cards each turn, do not hesitate to re-roll him aggressively for 4-5 damage a turn. As you tool up Rey you should be able to setup some hard to react chains throughout the game with Vibroknife or Force Speed. Do not forget that Force Speed special into Use The Force can be either use offensively on Luke dice or defensively on Force Throw special.

Last but not least the card of the deck is definitely My Ally Is The Force - you can make some really absurd plays like using Force Throw special twice or doing 6 damage with single Luke's 3 dmg dice or Handcrafted Light Bow special which usually swings the game towards you during late game.

I would not change much after tournament, I am considering to use Force Heal instead of one Force Training again (I've used it previously and it was quite good), Overconfidence is candidate for ditching as well if I ever find some better blue removal.

Quick recap of rounds:

Round 1: eVader / Royal Guard

Don't remember much from the game, I think I've got early Vibroknives and gained plenty of shields early. Killed Guard first to prevent The Price of Failure shenanigans, then outlasted the Vader despite him playing Rise Again.

Round 2: eUnkar / Deathtrooper / Trooper

Difficult match, he was playing two Z6 Riot Control Baton rest was dice control or support. Killed unkar first, eventually Luke died and it was Rey against two almost dead troopers. I killed small Trooper first then when Deathtrooper was at 1 life he played Endless Ranks on Trooper. In the end Rey did manage in a very close game.

Round 3: eBaze / Rey

Killed Baze Malbus - Crack Shot quite early, however opponents Rey was quite tooled and funny but not so funny stuff of Awakening being used on Overkill +3dmg dice regularly. Planetary Uprising was in play as well. I was however able to generate lots of shield (which was useful against ranged less so against Vibroknife ) which gave me just enough lasting power to kill pretender Rey while mine prevailed.

Round 4: ePalpatine

A nasty one. We went back and forth, me doing damage and trying to controll his dice whereas Palpatine - Galactic Emperor was doing his thing when dice were not controlled. Rise Again was played but the game was still winnable at that point. On critical turn Rey did hit the bin by Force Lightning special removing Sith Holocron blank into special again (at point where Palp had no resources) and it went downhill from there.

Round 5: Jabba / Unkar / Tie Pilot

Mill deck. Went after Unkar, Jabba received Fast Hands then Blackmail. Made a mistake there and did not switch the target to Jabba - my hand and deck was depleted rather fast due to Blackmail and Command Centre. In the end however I've managed to put out lots of upgrades in play and once I've killed both Unkar and Jabba I was able to close the game against lone Tie Pilot with just three cards in hand and no cards in deck.

Top 4 was ePalpatine (round 4 opponent), me, eUnkar / Deathtrooper / Trooper (round 2 opponent) and eVader / Royal Guard (round 1 opponent). Well at least I've played them all at this point.

Semifinals was against eUnkar / Deathtrooper / Trooper

He did play round 1 Imperial Inspection each round which was rather discouraging. First game I've lost very closely when in the end game I was The Best Defense...'d two rounds in turn and during last turn Rey didn't deliver. The other two games went better for me, I had slight upper hand throughout both games but still the finish was close.

In other semifinals ePalpatine dismantled his apprentice rather quickly.

Finals against ePalpatine again

From my testing I knew ePalpatine is definitely NOT favorable matchup, especially not a version I was up against (Boundless Ambition, lots of 0 costs including Premonitions and Dark Presence).

I won very close game 1, both of us made some mistakes during the game but it kinda evened out. I went full aggro intially but Palpatine was able to find second copy of Premonitions to Rise Again for free. Two Boundless Ambition were played that game. Once I did run out of dice removal stuff started dying (fully equipped Rey in this case), in the end I was able to kill Palp by doing 6 with My Ally Is The Force on 3 dmg Luke dice. I would be toast that turn if not for that.

Second game went very well for me. I rolled good and drew well as well. Used both guards, was equipped with Force Throw , Vibroknife and Force Speed so was doing some serious unblockable damage as well. Key two turns of the game were where I was able to control most of the dices of fully equipped ePalpatine (Force Protection, Force Push and Force Lightning) using My Ally Is The Force on my Force Throw special. Although again Rise again was played my dice control / Force Throw and Luke dice were just too much and in the end I've prevailed.

congrats on your win, i've also been on Eluke/rey for a while. for myself i've found that Makashi Training is better then Force Training, combos better with Guard and the ability on it can be relevant.

Force Throw might have to make its way back into my deck, i ended up removing it after all the poe/maz and Fast Hands cheating, but i think it might have to go back in for the Palpatine - Galactic Emperor matchup.

I played with Makashi Training previously but didn't quite like it. It was useful in rounds where I had and planned to play Guard less useful otherwise. Force Training on the other hand allows for bit of ramp which is always good in a resource hungry deck like this. Either case those two point upgrades are upgrades that tends to be overwritten later on so you'll get just 2-3 rolls of them most of the time. Another option is to play something like 1 Rey's Staff and 1 Makashi Training in those two slots though I am bit concerned that Rey's Staff is grey and do not combo with It Binds All Things very well.

Force Throw is must even in this fast meta, it was super useful in all games that I played it. I would not bother to even play it against Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot decks but than I am not that concerned with that matchup, with amount of shields this deck can generate I usually can wave of first couple of turns and kill Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot before they kill Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight which gives me an edge in the end game.

Thanks for posting this. The other Luke list on here I tried and it wasn't aggro enough for my liking. I'm going to try it at a store cs with force heal instead of training. I'll let you know how it goed.

karolko 250

@Epro Thanks. In previous iterations Force Heal was there instead of Jedi Robes however those two Force Training slots are definitely weakest links as dice upgrades go so anything you fancy can go there. Let me know how your store cs go for you.

25 entrants. Of the 5 rounds I played, 4 of them involved the opponent having Vibroknife which was pretty frustrating.

Round 1 Luke Rey vs Luke Rey Win I pretty much outrolled him and that's it.

Round 2 Luke Rey vs FN2199 and Anakin Loss He rolled 8 damage on turn 2 to kill Rey quickly thanks to vibroknife

Round 3 Vader Guardian Loss This one was pretty close but he was able to use the 3 melee damage side on both Vader dice for what seemed like every time. Again Vibroknife proved my shield spells useless.

Round 4 Poe Maz Win This was the matchup I'd been waiting for. She rolled pretty badly on turn 1 but managed to cast Black One with Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot's special. I killed Poe first and it was never super close.

Round 5 Luke Rey vs Luke Rey It seemed silly to play TWO mirror matches in one 25 person tournament with a fringe deck. I got outrolled ridiculously. Rey had 9 on her after turn 1.

Fun tournament and I think the deck would do a lot better against the field if you see Poe/Maz and Palpatine more often in your meta. I was surprised to see only 2 of each out of 25 people.

This deck has no answer to Vibroknife really. The 2/3 shields you start with by yielding the battlefield and playing Jedi Robes and or Caution are useless.

The tournament winner was Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master Rey which says a lot about shield utility and the better threat of having 2 dice on Rey and access to Synchronicity and Riposte as reliable damage. The same player/deck won another local SC as well so it wasn't a fluke.

@Epro`It looks like you've got bad luck on both your match-ups (four opponents with Vibroknife) and on opponents rolls. Sometimes stuff happens. In heavy Vibroknife meta Force Misdirection , Force Heal and Makashi Training should go in and Jedi Robes, Force Training and Overconfidence should go out. In fact this was previous version of my deck however at least in my meta (which is very diverse) above build yielded superior results.

Do you find yourself using OWTF often? I've just found my blue deck tends to be prone to being short on resources, not from thievery either.

karolko 250

@Ion87`Yes I do use it very often and it's crucial to closing games with Rey once Luke is dead. Deck is short on resources but It Binds All Things helps a lot in upgrading one Luke Upgrade from 2 point one to OWTF.
