"Jyn is bad!"

Shut your mouth! You're bad!

Pretty much any discussion on Jyn Erso on the internet when talking about Destiny.

Location

Really we don't care for battlefield control. We are kinda slow and won't be claiming often so why not take something that isn't hugely great for your opponent and doesn't harm you. Could make it like Moisture Farm - Tatooine or Starship Graveyard - Jakku and maybe you can get Second Chance back but really, you can decide. I can't tell you how to live your life.

Characters

Firstly go out and get any other Jyn Erso alt art card first because god is that card ugly. I highly recommend contacting I-Rebel Charity Cards on facebook and begging to get one of those or just make your own.

So with that small issue out of the way, the star of this deck actually isn't Jyn. She doesn't do the damage. Rebel Commando is the real all star of the deck. He is the silent watcher in the night, the one your opponent over looks because they are already frothing at the mouth with rage over the Jyn Erso - Reckless Operative ability to throw out so much cheap removal. Load up that Commando and watch him deal damage to your opponent without them paying him any attention because oh look you have a fancy alt art Jyn, clearly she is the star of the deck.

Upgrades and Supports

Let's start from the top.

Cunning is amaaaaazing. Against Emo Kids it lets you make Darth Vader - Dark Apprentice slap himself, against blue decks it's a free Force Speed, if your opponent plays a Thermal Detonator you can make it self destruct! God I love this card. And the most practical application? Rebel Commando special. And now Cunning is removal.

DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol is actually removal surprisingly enough and it's damage too why not? I can't count the amount of times my opponent rolled in with 2 dice and I DL-44 into overwriting the DL-44 into rolling in and showing damage.

Holdout Blaster because it's ambush and a decent weapon and let's you jump to the DL-44 or Second Chance.

Overkill. Ship it. It's great. It costs 2 resources and makes your opponent over react. Run two, no ifs ands or buts about it. Gold star.

Second Chance because what Jyn deck would we be without making our opponent want to choke us out after dropping this four times in a row.

Training, I know a few people hate this card but I think it's actually really fun here. Extra Rebel Commando dice is fine, potential more damage or removal, I will take it.

Finally a single C-3PO for consistency. Roll a 2 on Jyn? Boom now it is 2. Hit anything but special on Cunning? Now its a ! Blanked out Commando? Also a . This card is just super handy.

Events

I'd like to start off by saying don't be me and forget your Hit and Run at home and run a 28 card deck at a Q3 tournament event. Also leave your It's a Trap! in the binder, we don't need it here. It's red dice only and we have 4 red dice in the deck. Sure it could be a surprising 10 damage if you happened to have both Overkills and a Training on Commando but we are all about the yellow. Give me the yellow.

Also keep in mind, it is the first yellow event every round, so if you run out Loth-Cat and Mouse first, that's it. There is your one discounted yellow event for the round. Play smart.

Defensive Position. Okay so this is actually a card I'm thinking of cutting this but everytime I play with it once more it really shines and blocks like 6+ damage and I am like yes, keep it, awesome, but then I play two more games and it sees no use. Cut it, keep it, your choice.

Electroshock, you know what would make it even better? If it was free! Oh wait, Jyn Erso - Reckless Operative makes it free!

Field Medic is great. Ship it, keep it, play it.

Hit and Run may seem weak here but playing Hit and Run into Negotiate, Loth-Cat and Mouse or Rebel is great fun. Wouldn't play it without one of those cards in your hand. Just seems wasteful otherwise.

Loth-Cat and Mouse is great. Stop overvaluing your dice. Who cares he just removed your 2, you just got rid of their 3 that could have killed Jyn. Alternatively, toss for re-rolls.

Negotiate is character die only, no removing your Three-pee-oh die to trigger this. Great with Hit and Run when your opponent just rolled in the 2 die Darth Vader (of any flavour). And like electroshock, the only thing that'd make this better is if it was free, oh wait...

Rebel, another signature card of any Jyn deck. Fantastic card to bring that Second Chance or play Negotiate or Reversal again...riiiight up until you roll Jyn in and roll a 2 and a . Some cool stuff with this is making Second Chance a 2 cost card total thanks to the card text. Just wish the card was fr-oh ya, it's a yellow event.

Reversal okay so I actually love this card unironically. I think it's great. Sure it's expensive but it is a yellow event so it's 2 resources. Tossing back a Rocket Launcher's 41 side just feels great.

Sensor Placement is here for consistency. I really want to cut this in favour of something else like a Cheat but I just enjoy this card in my local meta. There are too damn many Emo Kids running around and making Darth Vader - Dark Apprentice slap himself will never not be amusing to me. Or just stealing their 1 resource that they want to resolve any of their XDamage1 dice is also funny.

Side Board and Honourable Mentions

So cards that could be cut are Defensive Position, Loth-Cat and Mouse, and Sensor Placement. Though feel free to just take other stuff out if you feel like it. Who am I to stop you. Just not It's a Trap!. I already went over it.

First card you could add is Cheat, mainly because it's fun saying I'm going to cheat and suddenly your opponent is paying attention again and then realizes it is just a card name. Possible targets are Second Chance, Rebel, Second Chance, Reversal, Field Medic, Second Chance and maybe Second Chance but I'm not sure on that last one. The reason why I don't really like Cheat is because of the card condition that you have to replace a card in your hand with the one you take from your discard pile.

Disarm is pretty fun, throwing away your opponent's Vibroknife or Holdout Blaster is pretty fun. Makes it harder for your opponent to play heavy hitters by overwriting and wastes their resources.

I keep getting told to put Guerrilla Warfare into this deck and I think that is just wrong. I would rather keep this deck to mostly yellow events but it is free so I'm not sure. Maybe a one of to throw that useless 1 rebel commando side into your opponent into claiming but meh.

Never Tell Me The Odds is okay here but I think it requires a different type of deck. Jyn won't be getting weapons over Rebel Commando so I think it's meh.

So the biggest problem people had with Shoot First was that it costed a dollar to essentially resolve a damage, then remove a damage. With the a few decks being exclusively melee damage it can be a dead card buuuut in this deck it can be great. Since you can play the card without removing an opponent's die, you could resolve your damage then play a different card or claim. Pretty nifty. Also it's free. Thanks Jyn Erso - Reckless Operative.

Game Plan

Okay so I was dead serious when I said Rebel Commando is the all star of this deck. Load him up with weapons and let Jyn soak up the damage. So many people will see Jyn as the real threat and try and burst her down as quickly as possible. Your job is to remove as much damage of theirs as possible and slowly buff Rebel Commando up with more guns than a squad of clone troopers.

Some cool stuff you can do is Hit and Run into either Negotiate or Loth-Cat and Mouse. Never ever run Hit and Run without either of those in hand.

You can use C-3PO so get rebel commando specials out to remove their dice too, which is why we run training so we have a better chance of not actually hitting that special and having to pay that dollar.

Since Jyn makes a lot of our Yellow Events free or close too it, resources aren't a huge problem but don't be afraid to turn that 2 on Jyn to a 2 with C-3PO.

Your priority is to just get damage, we aren't here to mill. Go look up a Jyn Ackbar deck or any deck with Padme if you want hero mill. We aren't about that life anymore since the Ammo Belt/Second Chance fix. The best part about this deck, it only gets better with every new set thanks to Jyn's ability. I will make a new guide when we finally get Empire at War.

Lastly if things go bad just steal their deck and say you are just getting into the spirit of Jyn Erso and watch as the judge comes running towards your table with the fury of a thousand suns and as both your and your opponent are vaporized in the heatwave, you will truly become stardust.
