My local meta has been pretty heavy with FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper decks and 4 character decks, and this deck seemed like it would be a good counter.

The SC was 18 players, 4 rounds of Swiss, with cut to top 4, no best of 3. I went 6-0 with a little luck and a lot of help from Planetary Uprising

Round 1 vs Baze Malbus - Crack Shot / Rey - Force Prodigy - This match was a bit of a brawl, with both sides doing a lot of damage. I hit a Thermal Detonator turn 1 that put me ahead, and with the help of a Planetary Uprising i managed to come out on top.

Round 2 vs First Order Stormtrooper x2, Guavian Enforcer, Tie Pilot - This was an exhausting match, and the closest one of the day. I opened up throwing a U-Wing on turn 1 and discarded an Endless Ranks with the Maz's Goggles special, but he used Cheat to get it right back. I New Orders 'd into Cargo Hold - Eravana to start messing with his upgrades, denying alot of damage, while he managed to get endless ranks off twice. On the final turn he was showing enough to kill Poe, but it would take him 3 actions to do it. I rolled out C-3PO which let me Poe special into Rocket Launcher the final bit of damage, to win by the closest of margins.

Round 3 vs Poe Dameron - Ace Pilot , Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen - The mirror match. I was concerned going into the mirror because my deck is tuned for the 3-4 character decks, but my poe bailed me out by rolling hot all game. When it wasn't double special (which i hit twice), it was was special + damage.

Round 4 vs FN-2199 - Loyal Trooper Unkar Plutt - Junk Dealer First Order Stormtrooper On the roll for the battlefield, i rolled a 2, but he also rolled a 2, so on the re-roll i won and got Cargo Hold - Eravana. Throughout the game whenever he showed damage with an upgrade, i could just claim to move it to an exhausted character. He Prized Possessioned a Poe die in the mid game, but i was able to scrounge the resources for a Rocket Launcher to replace it. In the end my Planetary Uprising was able to force enough damage through to win the game.

Semi-Final - Re-match against the 4 character list from round 2. The difference this time was that i got both Planetary Uprisings very early, and coupled with a key Retreat in the midgame after both poe dice got The Best Defense...ed , Poe was much healthier at the end of the game, while my opponent took 4 damage a turn from planetaries alone.

Final - Re-match against FN-Unkar. I wont the battlefield roll again, and also played Planetary Uprising on turn 1, and the second on turn 2. Maz died early to some big roll outs from a Flame Thrower and another upgrade ( think it was a Vibroknucklers. This led to some weird rounds where Unkar claimed super early after mitigating Poe's dice to avoid the Uprising damage. I got some good re-rolls after he claimed and the Uprisings put on too much pressure, leading to my win.

Some of my non-standard card choices:

1 Millennium Falcon - because I only own 1, but I honestly didn't miss it. I'm not sure if I'd put in 2 if owned a second one.

2 Bowcaster vs 1 Rocket Launcher - I only have 1 rocket launcher, but i think i'd favor bowcasters anyway. 9 times out of 10 you are throwing it for the 4 for 1, which both have, but Bowcaster can be thrown for 2 with no resources, and it can also be played on maz and will re-deploy when she dies.

Retreat vs Hyperspace Jump - this was usually a dead card, but every now and again it it saves the day (like in the semifinal match). I like retreat for the simple fact that it only costs 2. Trying to find the extra resource for Hyperspace jump sometimes makes it unplayable.

1 Field Medic - Relying on Planetary Uprising as much as i do, It is hard to play this card, but i still like 1 to mess with my opponent's math.

2 "Fair" Trade - I only managed to play this card 1 time, in a 2 for 1 trade, but It is mostly there for match-ups i didn't play against - Palpatine and anyone else running Rise Again. Against the FUnkar deck he knew i had it thanks to Friends in Low Places, and played around it. But it may have been worth it just to force him to get rid of his resources.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Poe/Maz is still broken, probably needs an eratta on Poe, definitely needs an eratta on Planetary Uprising to make it unique -- But FN is just as bad and sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.

What about Negotiate?

runningonion 1022

I feel that post eratta, it is almost always correct to kill maz first, and most of the time she'll die in round 2, which means negotiating with a poe die, which feels bad.

I could see an argument for replacing electroshock with it, since negotiate would hold some value after maz dies, but i feel it is too awkward to use.

If i could add 4 more cards to the list, i'd probably put back the second field medic first, something else to throw next, then negotiate.

Thanks for the excellent guide! Your argumentation for the bowcaster is very good - I no longer miss a second rocket launcher :-)
