Hello and thank you in advance for helping me create what I hope to be a tier one deck.

I know I know what about Luke!?!

You need to trust me and try this. It is the Ryobi Drill and it is made for driving damage. A lot of people like Luke because he draws a card but Obi can get 6 unmitigated damage when he shows a 3 melee or a 2 focus with MAITF when Luke can only do it on his 3 melee. This makes him super lethal. What puts the icing on the cake is All In. If you have just Rey's Staff on Rey and a focus on force speed that all in gets 2 focus on Obi-Wan then a 3 Ben and 3 Rey's Staff for 6 damage they couldn't stop. If Rey had some damage showing then you can get a little more. These types of plays can go off first or second turn easily. This is damage that looks like nothing to your opponent and then it is of the wall good.

If you have a Force Speed special out with 2 focus on Ben then that is again 5+ damage from Obi and Rey die.

Later in the game with some more upgrades out it can get more punishing. The big point here is you can get 5-8+ damage realistically and easily 3 or 4 times in a game without your opponent being able to do anything about it. And this happens very early on.

I am publishing this because I need help. Right now this deck can generate serious heat but I think with some assistance it can catch fire in a big way. Here are some thoughts I have after playing a few games:

-There are more cheat enablers than you think: Vibroknife, MAITF, All In, and Force Speed.

-I have used Datapad a few times and if a special drops it crushes with an all in in your hand. That said I would consider swapping this for something that improved the deck.

-I have never used Makashi Training. This is mostly due to not enough games played or games going to quickly. That said I like it for caution late game but can swap something in for it.

-This deck is sneaky and fast 10+ damage is easily doable in the first two rounds making knocking out a character right away easy. Since you are claiming quick because all of the cards accelerating play you have a shot at letting a character make only one activation.

-I don't play many upgrades. If I can get 1 weapon a force speed and maybe a Datapad or another weapon down there will be a lot to exploit. I will often discard to reroll in the earlier rounds if they have spent resources because then it is really easy to get a 5 or 6 damage play 1st round. I don't mind pitching a OWTF or Saber because Obi can fish it out when he dies (if he dies).

-The best mitigation in this deck is getting a character off the board along with his die.

-Trust Your Instincts is a cantrip. I am indifferent to it.

-I believe Willpower should stay. The way this deck gets damage is in a clump of 5 or 6 and then icing on the cake if a roll goes your way (remember 5-6 without reaction time is easy). This can lead to many situations where you need 1 more damage. At least that's how it seems so far.

-Don't overmitigate! Take damage in a smart way. The goal should be to see if you can get one more activation.

-I like Otah Gunga if I win the roll. Yeah I could switch it.... what's better for this deck?

***-I believe the big weakness of this deck is people don't see it much yet. They think they have time and then they don't. My big worry is they will realize that this deck is Poe/Maz but Maz is the cards in your hand or a Force Speed on the board showing special. If they start mitigating what looks like crap dice I think issues could arise. The hope is that when they mitigate they slow down their offense which may let us win anyways.

***-Disrupt is also a problem. All in makes it work but the two worst die faces in my mind are a distupt on an opponent's die or Ben showing a 1 focus.

So the point above is my big worry. I think this deck can be very competitive. I need your help though. Please give me your thoughts and help. I really think this deck has legs. Makashi Training/Trust Your Instincts/Noble Sacrafice are the first cards I would sub out likely. Thanks in advance all!

Hi, good stuff, been working on a version of this myself and have been trying to find that right mix to make it competitve and would be happy to work on it with you. Writing this on mobile so keeping it short, but I agree with the sub cards, Trust Your Instincts and Noble Sacrifice never seemed to pull their weight for me and I have never liked Makashi for no real reason other than personal preference and my dislike of blue sides. Here's my current list swdestinydb.com which I know just isn't quite there yet.

Thanks @EdgeStryfe I'm going to game tonight and trying a few changes that I hope will improve after trying. I'll update after tonight but Datapads are coming out and trust your instincts along with Return of the Jedi. Instead I will have 2x Determination to help trigger Force Speed and 1x Ben's Journal (iffy) along with a Use the Force. I decided to pass on doing the Handcrafted lightbow and force misdirection suite but let me know if you get that to trigger often because it's intriguing. I used to hate Makashi training but it has grown on me. It is very solid. I'll have more info after tonight.

BTW @EdgeStryfe I really think you should give All In a try. With Obi's dice it's an easy auto 5+ damage if you have 2 focus showing. Do you play on tts?

EdgeStryfe 8

Yeah, I play on TTS from occasionally. I've tried All In and I always seem to be pitching it for rerolls, I can often use a force speed special in place of it. I'm also interested in trying Determination. Lightbow isn't so much there for misdirection as it is for having a 3 damage side for MAITF when Obi goes down.

@EdgeStryfe I forgot about lightbow's special. Might fit one in as I am getting rid of Obi Journal after playing. Deck did real well. Went 1 and 1 against ePalp and eLuke/Rey. I think I messed up with ePalp second game but the eLuke/Rey will have big games as well. Interestingly I didn't draw MAITF or All In against Luke and still felt good. Palp got a Rise Again off but I was able to double MAITF for 9 damage by turning 2 focus to 2 3's and then MAITF on one of the 3's. Came out of nowhere lol. I really like this deck.

Glad you're doing well with it. I'm going to try to give All In another shot. Nice play against Palp I never seem to have enough resources to pull off something like that, ever try out Destiny? I'm still trying to find the right mix of mitigation but the explosiveness is huge.

I like destiny but I worry about cannibalizing my die which is hurtful in this deck. That said could be worth a shot. I normally don't have 4 resources but I couldn't draw squat for cards and then bam next turn I drew 2 maitf.... Lucky situation!

EdgeStryfe 8

How has Determination worked out? Also, I"m surprised at the exclusion of Use the Force, have you not gotten use out of it?

zmanfarlee 19

@EdgeStryfe I need to update my decklist as it has changed a bit in testing. Use the force is a one of right now and I think I will make it a 2 of. All in will likely be cut to one of and I am going to get rid of Noble Sacrifice for something. Determination will also get cut to a one of likely but it has had some benefits.
