I have strated playing around with a different pairing for Thrawn than eUnkar. In short there are 4 30 point pairings:

  • eFN-2199
  • ePhasma2
  • eUnkar
  • eKylo1

I wanted to play eThrawn/eUnkar but did not yet have the win-condition cards. I do not want to play mono right now so that left Kylo. I see some synergy in his special ability and Thrawns ability. With a little tactics and careful observation of what your opponent plays, you can give him a nasty surprise.

I have played this pairing a couple of times IRL and a couple of times on TTS, so it is somewhere between playtesting and theorycrafting.

Vader's Tie can probably be replaced by something else.

This is an idealized version of what I ended up with. It plays heavy control with alot of ramping. I mulligan hard mulligan for chance cube. The other mulligan targets are >4 worth of upgrades and force vision. If the opponent plays a very fast deck one mitigation is also good to have.

If you start and worry about a fast deck: Roll out Thrawn and call 2 to remove their preferred upgrade.

Otherwise Turn 1: Chance Cube on Thrawn. Roll Thrawn and call the cost of a card they can play with their current ressources. Always pay for Chance Cube The ideal roll nets you >4 . If you cannot get it naturally or through focus just leave it for now. Get your ressources and mitigate as needed. Empty the bank on what ever is in your hand. Roll in Kylo. Reroll with what is left. Focus for ressources/black damage as needed. Use Now I Am The Master as a up-your sleeve mitigation. Ideally end round with force vision to mess with their next turn.

Turn 2: The goal now is to play 1-2 more upgrades or supports and stop your opponent from killing you. Thrawn goes first and hopes to remove a 2-cost upgrade. Remove as much from their hand as possible and use mitigation after they reroll. If things worked out Kylo has 5 ressources worth of upgrades + Now I Am The Master and 1-2 upgrades on Thrawn. Focus from Thrawn can take things down this turn.

Turn 3: If both are alive it is now time to snipe one of your opponents characters. Kylo goes first and Thrawn hopes for focusses.

Turn 4: Either you lost or you start to clean up with what ever character is left.

Um you do know that Dark Presence is absolutely useless in this deck since you don't have any cards that offer the discard symbols to make use of it . .. otherwise looks somewhat decent.
