Favorite Starting Hand Stolen Intel gives 1 extra card

Hidden Blaster, Dug in, Prepare for War, We Have Them Now, Doubt, Bait and Switch

...Here's why: Assuming you have the battle field you can play Prepare for War allowing you to pay for a Cad 3. #Dug in to allow you to shield up making Cad a 15 HP. Ciena's dice should produce at least 1 resource giving you freedom to play Hidden Blaster and still pay for a die side. We Have Them Now is nice to make sure you have for later. Bait and Switch because on turn one, with the right rolls, you can kill a 9 health character like Mother Talzin - Nightsister Matriarch

How to play

Play Prepare for War first, the roll in Ciena Ree - Adept Pilot Hoping for 2s or 1 and a +2. Then collect the resource. Then put the Blaster on Cad and roll in. Resolve all damage OR play Bait and Switch if a massive damage output can be done the resolve. Then pass as needed or claim to set up for next turn.

The Homerun Roll in Ciena. With 2 guns on Cad, overwrite one with an ambush weapon. Then roll in. Then with the ambush play Tactical Mastery followed by We Have Them Now to set 4 dice to whatever you want and then resolve damage.

Cards that could make it better

X-8 Night Snipers would be the very best thing to add. Maybe a card to remove upgrades would be good too to get around Illusion. Could get a Sound The Alarm in there, but today's meta is very heavy so you need cards that remove dice, not reroll damage dice only. You might want to go with Logistics but I'd rather use Prepare for War because it doesn't require you to resolve a die which may be better used with Bait and Switch.

Final Thoughts

I know cad is dead to most people without Phasma, but I'm telling you, it works. The major downside to it is that Cad can roll some really crappy dice with only 2 damage sides. It plays very similar to how Sabine runs. You either drop major damage, or you don't. There's very little middle ground.

Thanks for reading and please leave feedback.

Keep in mind budget. Total deck cost: about $35

One note to add. NEVER play a weapon on Cad if it's going to leave you with 0 resources. I know it's hard to do, but you have to be able to pay for his 3 sides and mitigation.

triplenine 8

I am working on something similar. The Cad Ciena combo is interesting. I think that vandalize is super critical in the world of force illusion and stupid lightsabers. I am dying for a second x-8 but I am trying to tell myself it isn't necessary.

@triplenine x-8 isn't a necessity. I've made a few changes.

-2 F11D

-1 Doubt

-1 sustained fire

+2 Vandalize

+1 Verpine Sniper Rifle

+1 Relby-V10 Mortar Gun

There is so much 3, 4 and 5 character builds, that the Relby is becoming a great weapon. The sniper's special is also great especially with people bringing Emperors thrown room. I think in your build if you have 1 x-8, you are fine. throw in a verpine sniper instead of a second.
