What an amazing day of Destiny for our Western Australian regionals event at Good Games Cannington. A hugely diverse local meta and fun game all round. I had spent the lead up hooked on Poe Dameron / Yoda, then seriously thinking of running Hero Vehicles. Only to sleeve up this deck a few nights before.

Round 1: Store Champion Bye

Win 1-0

Round 2: Obi-Wan Kenobi / Maz Kanata

Matched up against my testing buddy Andrew. Except this match did not go like any of our test games with this pairing. I was well behind come turn 3, lost Hondo early and it took me far too long to pop Maz. Lone Operative was the MVP of this match up as for the next three turns I managed to heal a total of 9 on Yoda and work my way through the 12 health Obi-Wan for the win. We were both shocked with how this game played out! But never happy to see a mate with a loss.

Win 2-0

Round 3: Hero Vehicles - Aayla Secura / Rose / Ezra Bridger

My worst fears came true and I was matched up against one of the two vehicle decks. Testing didn't give me an answer for this deck and I knew I just had to hold on and see how far that would take me. I managed to work my way through Ezra and Rose, only to have to work through Aayla with two Y-Wings, a Resistance Bomber, C-3PO and numerous other vehicles out. MVP was my Force Throw as I was able to claim into Cunning resolving the Force Throw ability to throw the 6 die from the bomber into Aayla for the win.

Win 3-0

Round 4: Qui-Gon Jinn / Aayla Secura

A solid deck and was on the stream table for this one. Time to keep my cool, focus and be ready for out of hand damage. Everything seemed to go my way for this one, ramping comfortable and my opponent just getting the card draw needed to stave off the damage.

Win 4-0

Round 5: Yoda / Jedha Partisan / Jedha Partisan

Matched up against another testing buddy, our TO, Daniel. My Poe Dameron / Yoda deck had a good track record against his mill deck but it always got me sweating with how quickly it can burn through your deck. Often 15 cards in discard at the end of Round 1! Managed to hang onto and play a number of upgrades to get the damage flowing as he had plenty of resources to pay Hondo. Dan finished alongside the two vehicle decks as the only 3 with a 4-1 record for the day.

Win 5-0

Top 8: Zeb Orrelios / Rey

This is where things went very wrong. Game 1 I chose to target Zeb, big mistake! Neil piloted this deck amazingly well and made good use of the two Running Interference on the table and make a heap of to ramp and pay off Hondo. 0-1

Game 2 I went for the correct target of Rey. Managed to Vandalize his first Running Interference only for the second copy to be immediately played. A huge struggle as he once again got the board state, but Yoda managed to seal a victory. 1-1

Game 3 was a land slide for Neil. Always had answers for any damage I was able to setup for and constantly denied me mitigating his dice through running interference. Well played game and that was me out of the cut. 1-2

Congrats to @stranglebat for taking out the Regional with his crazy fast version on Hondo / Yoda. Big shout out to the local community of Destiny players in Perth, Western Australia. A fantastic group to be a part of!

Thanks for the shout out :)

Did you find the throne room could be an issue at times?

Did you perfect this deck out of a conversation on TTS ? If you did let me know cause I may know the guy. Apologies if you don’t play table top.

@stranglebat have been editing and rewatching the final, well played dude. Throne Room worked in my favour all day. Including a New Orders double claim. Thankfully didn't see Boba/Phasma in Swiss.

@Manzanita9 I do play tabletop but only did some breif closed testing on the Hondo / Yoda on the Thursday night before this regional.
