This is my Top 8 deck from the Prescott AZ Destiny Regionals (41 players). It went undefeated in the Swiss rounds (7-0) but ran into a bad match-up in the quarterfinals. It's inspired by another deck that recently kicked butt in a Regional and also the Hyperloops version (My Chemical Bromance) but I made some changes to suit my own play style. My version is designed to play lean on minimal resources (27 total for the deck) and it chugged along through the Swiss rounds, though several matches came down to the last action or roll. Very close games.

Here are the deck combos in each round (round 4/5 may be backwards, can't remember precisely):

1: Saw/Yoda - W ... 2: Boba/Phasma2 - W ... 3: Aayla/Poe2 - W ... 4: Kylo2/Talzin - W ... 5: Boba/7th Sister - W ... 6: Aayla/Rey2 - W ... 7: Kanan/Zeb - W ... Top 8: Talzin/Bala/Stormtrooper - L

The biggest roll I had in the tournament came against Aayla/Rey2 in round 6 where I was essentially down to my last roll before Anakin would be defeated. Rey2 had 3 shields and 3 damage, so 8 health remaining. I got the claim in the prior round and immediately rolled out. Anakin had 2 Heirlooms and a Maul's saber, and got 10 melee damage onto the table. 1 short of finishing Rey through the shields. Rey rolled out--and I played Unyielding to win the match. That was a lucky roll (I needed 8 damage and got the 10) to pull out that game. Everyone I played was very good and the matches were tight. Great crowd.

Of mistakes, I made a few, but they were small and didn't dramatically alter the course of games. Fortunately the mental slips did not jeopardize my positions. I only noted a couple mistakes from my opponents but overall everyone played really well. I recalled something BobbySapphire said on a recent vlog, and also general principal from playing poker--keep the mistakes smaller than the opponent's, minimize losses/errors. It went that way today, along with some good luck. Anyone who makes it through 7 rounds and into the cut in a big tournament has to have a few things go their way and it happened for me today, mostly. I could have easily gone 4-3 or 5-2 had a few rolls gone the other way.

In the Top 8 I ran into a rainbow burst deck that is one of the worst matchups for my deck. I knew I had to kill Bala in round 2 or I would probably lose. I did that in the first game and won, but cold dice on my side couldn't get rid of Bala in time and my opponent heated up. He won the next 2 games and went on to win the Regional.

Great tournament, ran very well by the Tournament Coordinator (Russell Carroll in our local store, Game On in Prescott AZ). Congrats to all who played.

Side Note--there are only 5 Legendaries in the deck (Force Speed, Ancient Lightsaber and the one Maul's Lightsaber). Everything else is common/uncommon or from the Starter/Rivals sets. Additional side note--Kylo2 and Anakin3 are both the #1 card in their respective sets, numerically speaking. Intentional by designer? I like the combo.

Great showing last night, it was a pleasure to play against you.

@cenazwalker Thanks, appreciate that. Which round did I play you in? Everyone I matched up with were friendly and played very well, it was a really tough gauntlet to navigate through in the Swiss rounds. Just came up short against a Rainbow deck but overall I'm blown away by how my deck played and the diversity of decks I had to play against. Really tough, loads of fun, tournament was smooth with no distractions/issues--just a solid day of Destiny.

Oh, judging by your published decklists, is this Chad? :) Boba/Phasma2?

cenazwalker 259

Yup, Boba/Phasma2.

I remember that Take Flight play very well--crazy ending. I want to try Boba/Phasma2 now after playing against you. Looks awesome.

Oh I remember it well too. If I had pulled it off, that would have been a crazy win. I enjoyed the deck quite a bit, I'm tweaking it a bit and hopefully will get a chance to test it soon.

Anytime on TTS, we'll try a rematch. That was a great game.
