This is the deck I played to 35th place at Worlds 2018.

Matchups were:
R1: Obi/Maz - W
R2: Yoda/eAayla/Maz - W
R3: Boba/7th - L R4: Yoda/Qui-Gon - L
R5: Mirror - W
R6: Yoda/Hondo - W

Day2
R7: No Show
R8: Rey/Aayla - L
R9: Sabine/Ezra - W

I felt like the deck performed quite well over the weekend. Two of the games I lost were by literally 1 point of damage. I'm sure I could've clinched those games with some extra practice with the deck (I've now played a total of about 20 games with it), but I knew that would be the case going in. Over the entire event including side events, I was 16/4 with the deck.

If I had to run it back, I'd be happy to pick the same deck, but I'd make a few changes.

Vibrocutlass never made it onto the board so I'd probably swap that for another LL-30 Blaster Pistol (even though LL-30 is my least favorite of the ambush guns).

Dug in wasn't good enough in most matches, and the way I played the deck means I'm not actually claiming as much as you'd think. Hasty Exit was at times a dead card for similar reasons, although I'd definitely cut Dug In first. The Best Defense... was an MVP when I was able to play it, so I would probably slot in another copy to try and see it earlier.

Scorched Earth while fun, wasn't consistent enough to actually finish any games. Two resources for 5 damage is pretty sweet, but I think I'd rather have Swiftness > We Have Them Now instead.

There were times I felt like I needed some shield hate so a Sustained Fire could probably be included over On The Hunt, which was a bit underwhelming.

Other than that, I was really happy with the deck especially given my lack of reps/practice leading up to Worlds.

Do you think this deck is best played as fast as possible? I'm building a similar deck and I'm starting to think its better to go for an overall slow burn that bursts damage. Bobas pretty slow inherently

RebelSpy 1304

I don't think you need to be as fast as possible, but it depends on how the deck is built. I felt fairly slow because I typically tried to reroll into max damage every single turn, that naturally is gonna slow the deck down (one reason I shouldn't have played as many "control the battlefield" type cards). I would say overall, learn what your playstyle is with the deck (or any deck really), and then adjust the cards in that deck accordingly.

What was your strategy R6 against Yoda Hondo?

RebelSpy 1304

My plan was to take down Yoda asap, and reduce my opponent's damage output to only Hondo's upgrades (once I'm upgraded, it's pretty easy to keep paying Hondo off).

What I didn't expect was the 4 second chances I'd have to eventually fight through to finally take that game down. I think I'd go in with the same strategy next time, but if I god-rolled into enough damage to kill Hondo before a Second Chance, I'd go for it.

A lot of cards in the deck become dead if you kill him first, but it's really risky to target him first if you can't one shot them or find another way to make sure they don't get SC down before you do.

Ok thanks! I'm running Boba Phasma at tomorrow's GQ and I'm worried about the matchup. Thanks for the response!

@Darkmeld My pleasure! One other thing I'd note just in general vs Yoda/Hondo is don't worry too much about taking Hondo specials early on. Dropping upgrades is generally more important, and giving them resources usually come back to bite you. Good luck at the GQ!
