Played this deck at my local store (Empire Central in League City, TX) weekly tournament. Several of us got together and tried various decks using the new cards released yesterday. I LOVE playing Obi-Wan Kenobi - Jedi Master Maz Kanata - Pirate Queen and wanted to find a healthier companion for Obi. I picked Jedi Sentinel because of the synergy in terms of damage, higher health, and special that works with shields. I went 7-0 playing this deck.

There is nothing that special about it, you get a lot (and I mean A LOT) of shields and do massive amounts of damage. You will stay low on resources so mulligan for It Binds All Things. I have extra weapons in this deck than I ran with Obi-Maz but that is because I added Honed Skills. I more than half my games I had 4 upgrades on at least one of my characters. Oh, and no characters died except in a battle with Rex - Clone Captain Clone Trooper Clone Trooper and they killed the Jedi Sentinel. Toughest match up was against Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert deck but with shields and Ancient Lightsaber healing they never killed Obi-Wan Kenobi - Jedi Master.

Much of the strategy is the same as the Obi-Maz deck, get 2 Shoto Lightsaber on Obi for 3 shields per activation -- I tried to be strategic on my placement of Ancient Lightsaber based on who my opponent was attacking. I Put Force Speed on Jedi Sentinel. I never lost a character but tried to put a redeploy weapon on each character in case they died (Dagger of Mortis and Heirloom Lightsaber). Luke Skywalker's Lightning Rod was a great addition to the deck. Ran only a few 3 cost upgrades with Lightsaber Pull in the deck.

Old standards worked great, Guard to use with the few modified dice you cannot resolve, Overconfidence, and Synchronicity did their part. New cards worked great -- Loth-Wolf Bond let me get ahead of my opponent since you do not have Maz to do action cheating, Peace and Quiet I mainly used against my opponent but there was one time I used it to turn Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber to the special for 3 surprise damage on my opponent. I feel you could easily trade this out for Doubt or Hidden Agenda if mainly using action against opponent's dice. Natural Charm was amazing and only used it against my opponent, not to reroll my dice. Free Fall worked better than I thought with the ambush ability. You need to pick your spots to use this since your opponent gets to choose the die to remove.

That is pretty much it. I usually got at least 1 upgrade out turn 1. By end game, I would be dealing an average of 8 to 10 damage a round (my max was 13 damage in 1 roll), if not in a single roll at times. With 4 upgrades on Obi, you will be rolling out 6 dice. Early game, do not worry about dealing damage. Use the shield and resource sides to set up your game state. Try to keep damage to yourself at a minimum, but do not worry, shields will come to keep you alive and you can do the Ancient Lightsaber for heals. It is mid- and late-rounds that you will be dealing a ton of damage.

I did not play against any Snoke - Supreme Leader decks, did play against a DJ - Treacherous Rogue deck and 2 vehicle decks. Will be interesting to play more as the meta shapes up to see if this deck has lasting power.
