Chicago Regionals 2018 at Pastimes in Niles, IL.

December 8th, 2018 - The updated Holocron with a point increase to Snoke - Supreme Leader was not published until after this event.

64 participants - 7 rounds of swiss.

I stole the idea for this build from the folks at YOUR Destiny.

Round 1 - Win - vs. Elite Jar Jar Binks - Clumsy Outcast / Boss Nass - Bombastic Ruler / Gungan Warrior / Gungan Warrior / Arena of Death - Nar Shaddaa

Round 2 - Win - vs. Darth Vader - Terror To Behold / Greedo - Unlucky Mercenary

Round 3 - Win - vs. Yoda - Wizened Master / Leia Organa - Boushh

Round 4 - Loss - vs. Thrawn - Master Strategist / Snoke - Supreme Leader with Grand Moff / Jedi Temple - Coruscant

Round 5 - Win - vs. Elite Rex - Clone Captain / Clone Trooper / L3-37 - Droid Revolutionary

Round 6 - Win - vs. Yoda - Wizened Master / Leia Organa - Boushh

Round 7 - Loss - vs. Han Solo - Independent Hotshot / Biggs Darklighter - Rebellion Ace / Armored Reinforcement

After finishing Swiss at 5-2 and being on the bubble, I snuck in at 7th place via strength of schedule.

The player I lost to in Round 4 ended up being the 2nd place seed.

The player I lost to in Round 7 ended up being the 6th place seed.

The Top 8 consisted of seven Thrawn/Snoke decks and one Han/Biggs/Armored Reinforcement. One of the Thrawn/Snoke players had to drop, which allowed the 9th place seed to bump up into the Top 8 bracket. That 9th place seed was playing Han Solo - Independent Hotshot / Poe Dameron - More Than A Pilot. An interesting note is that except for me, the other Thrawn/Snoke decks were all playing Jedi Temple - Coruscant and Grand Moff.

Top 8 - Quarterfinals - Loss 0-2 - vs. Thrawn - Master Strategist / Snoke - Supreme Leader / Grand Moff / Jedi Temple - Coruscant

Funny enough, my opponent here in the quarterfinal was who I lost to in Round 4 during Swiss.

As with any tournament, playing semi-competently combined with being on the right side of luck and variance helped push me through swiss. Just as an example, in both matches vs. Yoda/Boushh, I managed to find my single Vigilance in my opening hand.

I'll spare you the details of the matches, but some of the games were close and easily could've gone either way; my loss in Round 7 was very climactic with my opponent and I starting the last round with only one health remaining on one character each!

Thanks to all my opponents throughout the day for great games!

Also, thank you to Pastimes for keeping downtime between rounds to a minimum and running a great event.
