This deck doesn't pack any big punches, but delivers a steady flow of damage from multiple sources:

  • Preemptive Strike opens up with 2 damage.
  • Lots of cheap upgrades to use your Commandos' Power Action for 1 damage.
  • The Commandos' own dice, which have 3 damage sides with no modifiers or pay sides.
  • The weapon dice, which all have 3 damage sides, cost 2, and have Redeploy.
  • Backup Muscle pings for 1 each time.
  • 1 damage to your opponent whoever claims the battlefield with Petranaki Arena - Geonosis.

It all adds up, with some extra surprise damage potential from Act Of Cruelty, Fight Dirty, Take Flight and Threaten.

Meanwhile, your defence is decent. Starting health of 27 is good, and two of your cheap upgrades to spring the Commandos' Power Action are Armor Plating and Mandalorian Armor, which combine well with the 2 shield sides on the Commando character dice for protection. Added defence comes from the dice removal events Electroshock, Hasty Exit, He Doesn't Like You and Subdue.

The deck doesn't naturally generate resources, so includes two copies of both Truce and Well-Connected to offset that.

Mandalorian Vambraces is just a great all-round upgrade, in addition to being thematic for these guys and great cheap fuel for your Commandos' Power Action.

This is designed for casual play. It's also a budget deck, containing no legendary cards, and only 8 rares.

Suggestions for improvement welcome!

I like it. However even with the Truce and Well-Connected you might still struggle for resources. Chance Cube is the absolute best way to trigger the Mandos' power actions, not sure how budget a card that is though. I would try and include more 0 cost removal like Doubt and I would cut Hasty Exit for sure. This setup is not going to be fast to the claim. Act of Cruelty I don't really like so that could make way for Armed to the Teeth, much better card which fulfills a similar role of extra surprise damage to close out a game. Looks fun though, nice deck.

@Kryptmann, thanks for your thoughts. Chance Cube is down to $4.50 on Bytown Traders, so it would slot in behind Holdout Blaster ($6.50) as the second-most expensive card in the deck. It certainly is the best way to trigger their Power Action, and for zero cost, which is helpful here. In all the decks I've built I have never used Armed to the Teeth, but this could be the one!

I like it. Don't forget about Plastoid Armor with these guys. 1 health and 1 damage for zero$/card from hand is a straight-up value play.

Love it! I'd opt for Training Room - Kamino though.

I play a similar deck that I recently rebuilt with Double Down here: swdestinydb.com I'd definitely suggest trying Arena of Death - Nar Shaddaa for your BG. I also use Vow Of Vengeance as it's just inevitable that you will be losing a character, even in casual play.

broken link, sorry

@aheintz You're right, Plastoid Armor is very good value here. @llllij The problem with Training Room - Kamino is I'm not going to be claiming very often, so I prefer Petranaki Arena - Geonosis for consistency of dripfeed damage output. @kidvaloo Armed to the Teeth looks very handy with both Plastoid and Quickdraw Holster in play.

I think that adding a In Pursuit would be good to speed up the deck a little bit.
