The day before a small tournament I chose to run this deck based on the idea of the new Snoke - Supreme Leader errata and an expected lack of Watto - Stubborn Gambler.
The list is fairly standard and created from a merge between Scott Reed's UK Top16 list and a George Barnes 6-0 finish at the GQ in Milton Keynes. About the cards:
Donderbus Blaster Pistol: Don't like this weapon, feels underwhelming and worse than Grappling Boa. I chose to run it only because of the resource side. Redeploy is also a plus.
Underhanded Tactics: Do not even try to remove this cards. Most action cheating comes from this card.
Mend: Only included a copy of this thinking on my battlefield claim ability. Did not feel like playing #Truce instead due to my lack of experience with the deck.
Now onto the tournament a quick report:
W 1 round vs Kes Dameron - Courageous Sergeant/Finn - Soldier of Necessity/Allies of Necessity: Not starting with resources is usually a bad starting move against this deck. I cannot mitigate any of his dices because of his battlefield/power action but he cannot either.
W 2 round vs Captain Phasma - Stormtrooper Commander/First Order Stormtrooper/Advanced Training: A Snuff Out and his low total HP makes a difference and Padmé Amidala's Royal Starship lets me gain some time. I defeat him a couple actions before losing. Had he chosen to focus Padmé Amidala - Resolute Senator the outcome could have been different.
W 3 round vs Doctor Aphra - Artifact Hunter/General Grievous - Droid Armies Commander/Sentinel Messenger: Although he starts with the infamous 0-0-0 he does not ramp up quickly, which lets me fish a Moxie and outdamage him. Action cheat with Seize the Day was key in order to sneak damage. This deck plays so much mitigation it is really hard to solve a special "the usual way".
Top 4: W semis vs Tobias Beckett - Thief For Hire/Hondo Ohnaka - Respected Businessman: A back and forth matchup but I end up ramping a Padmé Amidala's Royal Starship which lets me be faster. Also not paying Hondo Ohnaka - Respected Businessman early on does not let him ramp into the Entourage playset as easily. Winning my battlefield roll was also key.
W finals vs Lor San Tekka - True Believer/Jar Jar Binks - Clumsy Outcast/Satine Kryze - Hope of Mandalore: Think this is a unfavourable matchup if my opponent mills my upgrades, but I start with a Donderbus Blaster Pistol on first round which ends up on the bin thanks to a Flames of the Past. I am not able to sneak any damage but at a certain point my opponent commits a mistake and lets me solve an Underhanded Tactics with focus and then two Leia Organa - Boushh specials. From that point on even a little bit of damage counts and I win the finals with a couple cards left on the deck.
All in all it is really important to win the battlefield roll since Mean Streets - Correlia is a hell of a battlefield to play against when a deck is tailored to make advantage of it. The deck contains valuable action cheating with Impulsive, Seize the Day and Underhanded Tactics. I do not think you need Instigate because the deck is so resource-hungry and usually you won't want to resolve sides.
Congrats and great writeup. Curious if another support could help if Padme is targeted early?
