Idea
Mandalorian/Maul is the product of several months of trying out Maul with his power action, and pairing him with a worthy accomplice. This started out with the FOST, then moved to the Veteran Stormtrooper, and eventually landed on the Mandalorian Super Commando. The idea of this deck is to play Maul's Saber round 1 on Maul, which requires some money makers. Maul's Saber using Maul's PA is insane, absolutely insane. It can push out a max of 8 damage, which I was able to pull off a few times during the tournament. If you cannot get a Maul saber on Maul early, put the Darksaber on him. Being able to gain 3 resource or do a max of 5 damage using this die can be incredible! And it having redeploy is a very nice touch as well.
When Maul is coming close to death, overwrite his lightsaber with a redeploy weapon for the Mandalorian. The most ideal weapon would be the Vibrocutlass (since the pay sides are free for him). Ideally, after Maul has done his damage and dies, the Mandalorian gets to fight with some armor plating, a Vibrocutlass, and maybe a Pulse Cannon to close the game.
Opening Hand
Respite, Maul's Lightsaber, Bounty Hunter Mask, and 2 free removal. Respite the Mandalorian to gain a resource. Play the Maul Saber on Maul. PA the Mandalorian with the free Bounty Hunter's Mask to ping 1.
Record
3-2
Game 1 - W
- Characters: Chopper - Metal Menace, R2-D2 - Loyal Companion, C-3PO - Perfect Gentleman
- Notes: This was against David from Petrie Games. Round 1 was able to get the Maul saber out, and with Maul's PA I hit the +4 side doing 8 damage. R2 was my first target, and I was able to knock him out with a Retribution play. I had an armor plating in hand to Mando PA for the kill, but the retribution worked out anyway. After that I was able to take care of Chopper then 3PO fairly quickly for a clean, no-deaths win.
Game 2 - W
- Characters: Chopper - Metal Menace, R2-D2 - Loyal Companion, C-3PO - Perfect Gentleman
- Notes: Again, got the Maul saber round 1. Second round used Maul's PA on the Maul saber to roll +4 to just barely kill Chopper and put 4 into 3PO. Hit the PA on the Mandalorian to kill R2 by playing a Pulse Cannon. Again took a clean, no-deaths win.
Game 3 - L
- Characters: Han Solo - Old Swindler, R2-D2 - Loyal Companion, C-3PO - Perfect Gentleman
- Notes: This game was tough. It was against Huntsing from the Moo Crew who went undefeated 9-0 that day. He won the roll-off so we used his battlefield (Mean Streets - Correlia). My first Maul PA missed then hit the 2. Second round after I rolled out, Huntsing claimed to play Snuff Out to remove my Maul 2, Maul 3, Maul Saber +4, and Mando 1 all at the same time. Third round he snuffed out to remove Maul 3, Maul 3, and Maul Saber 2. I finished that game without killing any of his characters.
Game 4 - W
- Characters: Chopper - Metal Menace, R2-D2 - Loyal Companion, K-2SO - Reprogrammed Droid
- Notes: This was a fun idea deck, but it falls apart pretty quickly after R2 dies, which is who I targeted first. I got the Maul saber round 1 again. By the end of the 2nd round, Maul was already dead, however I was able to overwrite the Vibrocutlass before his demise. By the end of the second round, I had killed both R2 and Chopp, leaving only 3 health remaining on K2. My next hand I had 2 Act Of Cruelty and 1 Armor Plating. My first play was for the Act of Cruelty, which put a damage on K2 and discarded 2 cards from his hand. I just happened to discard both of his Field Medic, which removed healing as an option for him. He rolled out and missed. I AoCagain. He re-rolled and missed. I Mandalorian PA for the kill.
Game 5 - L
- Characters: 4-LOM - Calculating Criminal, General Grievous - Droid Armies Commander, Sentinel Messenger
- Notes: This was against Matt from the Moo Crew, and I've been battling with Matt on this deck for the last few months. At this point, we've both played these decks against each other dozens of times, so we both knew what was going on. Just before Worlds though, Matt added a Mind Extraction to his deck to counter Palpatine - Unlimited Power, which is a brilliant move, however it counters Maul just fine too. Round 1 I roll out Maul, and he responds with a Mind Extraction. I decide to exhaust Maul second round to remove the extraction, so Maul was out round 2. Round 3 I played AoC to kill Grievous then he rolled in 4-LOM. I had remove for one of his blasters, but not both. It was a good game.
Finals
Not much to say here. I was top-4 cut, so I got to play Huntsing again. He beat me twice, then later beat Matt twice. His deck is real strong in removal with tons of 1, 2, 3 dice to deal with. Both Huntsing and Matt did excellent jobs on their playing that day, and won well deserved first and second places.

I also want to point out Maul's ls has been Errata'd making u pay 1 resource to roll the dice "if the opponent has no shields". |

the armor plating still cost 1 to play even when using the MSC's PA....so cannot play Armor plating for free.
