New version of one of my favorite decks to play with.

Don't knock it until you try it.

Biggest changes are that I swapped out some of the vehicles for different weapons and it seems to have worked out well. Awakening is the only support left and is great in this type of deck. I have 2 of all of the events that are absolutely essential and 1 of a lot of different ones that can be somewhat situational but are very effective when used. I have come to the conclusion that in a two character aggro deck that 10 upgrades is about perfect. Any more and you are wishing you had mitigation in your hand instead of 4 weapons. Any less and you may go a few turns without seeing one. Have fun!

I've tried this character combo and it's a lot of fun! I think people underestimate Chirrut's ability. You should definitely write up the results when you get the time/opportunity. An area in which I struggle in deck building is which events to leave in at the expense of others. I try to put in two of most events I use, and I'm interested in hearing about how your deck performs with only one of most of them.

Out of curiosity, what made you go pick only Holdout Blaster as the only ranged weapon (not counting Light Bow)? I'm playing around with a similar deck that, once I get the cards for it, will have mostly ranged weapons (currently mine looks closer to yours). As it is, mine did fine in testing against my wife, but I think more ranged damage can help it do more.

Hey good to hear that someone else likes these guys. The melee choice over the ranged has been purely I think the melee for heroes is better than the ranged. With Patience all are more reliable. I have been throwing the idea of using the DH-17 Blaster Pistol, it's cheap and with Chirrut's ability allows to reroll with those 2 blank sides. A180 Blaster is too expensive for what it does. IQA-11 Blaster Rifle is alright but it's the same as the Lightsaber but has shield instead of disrupt, which I like more. I have a local tournament tonight and will use all the one of's for the first time competitive. Just been playing it against my son and he has a rediculous, reimagined Jango Veers deck that it does pretty well against. I will post how it does in the tournament.

Looking forward to hearing the results! I'm also taking mine to a tournament tonight, here's the list: swdestinydb.com

It's actually closer to yours right now, but that's what happens when you don't get many red upgrades from packs :P

Good luck tonight, and may the Force be with you!

I love this deck. The only difference is that I am playing it inverted with eBaze. I am playing it with the DH-17's and when they hit or Chirrut can reroll them...these two Guardians are melting opponents! My event package is a little bit different and I want to fit in R2-D2 for his 6 sides and versatility...Thanks for having confidence in these Guardians of the Whills! How did your tournament go @TheBeard1808? Also, lastly for my battleground I use Maz's Castle to cycle through and get helpful events. Try and let me know what you think.

Tournament update: I went 2-2. Beat Crime Lord deck and QuiGon Rey. Loses were both to ePalpatine. Doesn't seem to have enough health or mitigation to deal with him. First game got Palpatine to 1 health. Second I got beat pretty bad. I do like the DH-17 idea to get something cheap out early.

My tournament didn't go quite so well. 17-person, played four opponents.

Round 1 - eLeia/Finn - this guy was basically playing starter deck stuff, with a few extra things thrown in - Win

Round 2 - ePalpatine - had him down to 4 HP, he drew rise again. Hit him for 4 next turn, but by then the game was done. I agree with @regahs_namelc, ePalp is just a bit much - Loss

Round 3 - eHan/eRey - Opponent had god rolls on top of all the action cheating. We were done before I had time to do much - Loss

Round 4 - eHan/eRey - This one was a lot closer. Ended up being his Han, my Chirrut at the end. Unfortunately, last two round his Han rolled around 8 damage each time, with Chirrut rolling duds, even with rerolls one of those rounds. Left his Han with 3 HP - Loss

However, it was still a lot of fun to play. The ePalp and first eHan/eRey ended up getting 2nd and 3rd place in the 17-person tourney, so I felt vindicated in losing to a tough draw

Also, Awakening is the unsung hero of this deck. I used it to great effect, especially with Overkill (I subbed one in last minute, great addition)

TheBeard1808 108

Oops, forgot to tag @bbrodsky50 in this. I think Moisture farm is probably the best choice for battlefield. I didn't have it at the time, but that one extra resource really would have come in handy, allowing me to get an extra event out at good times.

@TheBeard1808 and @regahs_namelc thanks for the updates...well, we can all work together to streamline these Bad Boys for damage mitigation/shields/dice manipulation....I will look at 0-1's cost events for that. It MIGHT need something to help with resources...between the two of you the deck is 3-5, which means it's not far off...Lol.

bbrodsky50 7

Maybe it needs Swiftness for Ambush?

TheBeard1808 108

@bbrodsky50 that sounds like a great idea to me, streamlining the deck

For full disclosure, here's the current version of mine: swdestinydb.com

Mine is a bit more ranged-focus, which changes some cards, but the overall feel is the same I think (but how I do love Awakening + Overkill).

Maybe we can chat in discord or something so we don't muck up @regahs_namelc's page with endless musings?

regahs_namelc 77

Doesn't bother me at all. Field Medic may need to go. Been thinking if we can remove a die we are going to choose something that does 2 damage or more to remove so use mitigation instead.

TheBeard1808 108

Yeah, whenever I've played field medic, it really hasn't resulted in any type of swing. I'm also thinking about taking out a couple of the shield upgrades to play other things, with unblockable damage floating around with vibroblade. Maybe leaving a single copy of Dug In or Caution

bbrodsky50 7

So, I went to create a version of this and I forgot to upload my collection so, that's a thing I have to do. LOL. With all of the recent upswing in unblockable damage I feel that it's better to heal characters than get shields. I am looking for ways to add resources besides the battlefield claim...#C3-p0, #Survival Gear, # Supply Line, Scout, Promotion, BB-8, and R2-D2, are all possibilities...I think Threepio might be the best option...

bbrodsky50 7

@TheBeard1808, @regahs_namelc - C-3PO is a monster in this deck...just the removal text of changing a symbol...if he rolls a blank before Chirrut Îmwe - Blind Warrior then Chirrut rerolls him. He has a focus to help if Chirrut blows the reroll. I put my deck on the deck builder but I am not sure if it is ready to post. But, here it is:swdestinydb.com It is not optimal right now, but Chirrut makes the DH-17's amazing. Play cheap, play fast, cycle cards with Maz's castle and hold the battleground. Let me know what you think! Thanks for including me in the conversation.

Scactha 888

Working on this too. Once I discovered Chirruts reroll ability and did some math I got excited about this pair. The reliability gain on rolls is impressive indeed. Especially Overkill and DH-17 become real good with him as ironically 'worse' weapons with more that one blank become better.

bbrodsky50 7

@Scactha I am glad other people are starting to see Chirrut!@regahs_namelc,@TheBeard1808`, myself, and others have been working on making Chirrut tournament viable for a while. For casual play this paring rocks! I play it inverted with eBaze/Chirrut. In SC play, I was smoked in 5 rounds it was terrible. The issue is that unless you make Chirrut the main "issue" people leave him alone to go after the "damage maker" in this case Baze. I am working on something with eRey/eChirrut. Her "Ambush" weapons package + lightsabers + the lightbows make her much more dangerous. Then Chirrut comes in behind for "fixing" and reliability.

Scactha 888

@bbrodsky50 Interesting that you went for Rey + Chirrut too. After alot of testing I also found that pairing the best with him. Suddenly Destiny, Guard and Force Misdirection become seriosuly good cards and you have a deck where both Holdout Blaster and Vibroknife belong. Just what Rey loves.

In testing I´ve beaten everything from Luke/Rey, Vader/Guard, Mill, Moe to FN decks (just remember that Cargo Hold - Eravana).

I think it´s really good due to the reliability Chirrut offers. He brings a consistent flow of resources, upgrades and damage which makes me miss the guy as soon as I shift to a deck without him. It´s at a point I can´t seemyself play any other pairing and pities my opponents when they stare at all those .

Whatever is that weird symbol? ;)

bbrodsky50 7

@Scactha - I really enjoyed Rey/Chirruit also. I have not had much time to play, so that deck probably should get unsleeved. I should start fresh now that EaW is out and we are getting another whole set and funky box soon. Chirruit is my fav character I am hoping that with the new Starter set Luke (who also has mixed damage), and a broad range of Events from the sets there is something there. Thanks for the encouragement and yes...what are those weird line thingies...
