Pearl Yeti 977

Inspired by RebelTroopers Luke/Rey store championship deck.

This deck took 2nd out of 31 players at Day 1 Event 2 of ETX and 1st out of 32 players Day 2 Event 3.

Day 1 my finals match opponent was quite skilled, and running a Vader/Raider with Boundless Ambition. I might have eked out the win if I had a little more familiarity with the deck (or if I had realized 3 turns earlier that I was being milled!), but conjecture is pointless and my opponent played a great series of games and really deserved 1st place. 2nd place won me that sweet Lure of Power playmat. Thanks @Rebeltrooper!!! And thanks to Ethan, my opponent, for being awesome.

I will write more on the day 2 win in a few days. Great game Dan!

I made some slight tweaks to RebelTrooper's deck. I replaced Mind Probe with Rey's Staff and Higher Ground for Force Illusion and Confidence for Guard.

My reasoning on Rey's Staff was just more consistently having a round 1 or 2 weapon on Rey that brought with it some mitigation that works against every deck type. Removing Vader, Poe and Palpatine 3 damage sides feels so good. Hitting for 3 damage or helping resolve those pesky modifieds feels good too. It also upgrades early and often into One With The Force.

Force Illusion over Higher Ground because the decks that have scary dice seemed to be claiming faster than me (Poe/Maz, Palp) so it wasn't getting used a lot but Force Illusion blocks a lot of damage vs those very same decks.

Guard over Confidence because man, removing 2 or 3 dice feels so good! I now view Rey's dice as sacrificial until Luke is dead. Every opportunity I have to use Guard on her +2 melee I do it. Every time I can use Caution to remove her die to get Luke 3 shields, I do it. Rey's die has minimal influence on early game unless you know for certain she is going to help take down a Maz or Raider round 1. But getting those early Cautions and Guards seems to ensure victory just as much as Force Speed / Vibroknife opening hands.

All in all, RebelTrooper put together an amazing list and I think as we explore the list possibilities further it will continue to prove a very consistent deck. Don't believe claims to the contrary!

Excellent job! Luke weaseling his way into the meta! Excellent changes to the deck that I will be adopting as well!

Thank you both for great write ups of your decks! I'm looking forward to playing this soon!

I played a mildly tweaked version of Rebeltrooper's deck today in a local store tourney. Luck was not with me, but it did great anyways, going 3-2. I mulliganed for Force Speed or Vibroknife, never getting either.

I lost to a Vader & Royal Guard deck, but Luke was a blank & resource rolling machine that game so ok, loss expected and accepted. Even if Luke did well on rolls, I'm not sure how well it would have handled this matchup.

Also lost to a Poe/Maz, but realized after the fact that was due to an illegal Reversal I didn't catch being played on Luke's 3 melee die. I did kill Maz turn 1, and ended up with 7 damage on Poe at the end. I think if I'd caught that illegal play, it was probably a Luke/Rey victory. Oh, or if I hadn't milled both Vibroknives on a Force Illusion.

Some thoughts after today: 1) It was hard for me to get damage output without Vibroknife. I would go with 1 or 2 more upgrades like Rey's Staff or Lightsaber, like Pearl Yeti did here. 2) Money was scarce but I had just enough usually. OWTF wasn't going to see the table in my games. 3) 2x Force Illusion in my deck felt like too much.

I think that removing Mind Probe and adding a force Illusion... makes premonition lot harder to play...You'll mostly loose your second premonition on discarding.(For Force illusion action) Having it just for defensive purpose (vs Vader or Palpatine deck) is not optimized at all.. Having Mind Probe in Hand with Rey is total game breaker ! ! !

Already had come backs in lost games... -> Rewrite my 2 cost item with Vibro Lame -> Rewrite One with the Force with Mind Probe -> 33% chance to get special and 10 damage with My ally is the force in Hand (or in prémonitions/ 0 cost :) )

All that said, i'll never cut my mind Probe on a Rey deck ;p

@Rebeltrooper I took 1st day 2 at ETX. The deck went 4-1 in Swiss losing round 3 to Poe/Maz. Took down another Poe/Maz, Vader/Kylo and Palp. In semi finals it beat the Poe/Maz it lost to in Swiss and in finals the undefeated Palp in best of three. It was tons of fun and it was great to meet players from all over the west coast.

@Leddon75 I agree with your analysis on Force Illusion and have a few tweaks I'm doing to this deck for the next event. I'm going to write that all up on an article for Artificery.com and post the deck list after the event.

Had the pleasure of watching this deck in action on Saturday in the finals against a Vader/Raider deck. High level play lead to high level excitement.

Currently looking for 2xforce speed, what would be a good filler until then?

The force illusion inclusion is a good one. It really messes with the "Kill Luke First" strategy. I was shocked by the few number of Vibroknives that were being played at ETX. I played 9 rounds of swiss and 2 games after the cut and only saw 2 vibroknives being played all day. I don't count the FN-2199 instance because they just overroad it as soon as it was played. This was deck was the best one in the building.

If you don't kill luke first your going to have a bad time. Rey's dice are aweful compared to his
