Deck version 3.0

The deck is good enough now on resources that getting a single Rise Again in there might be worth it for the late game. Other cards that I still want to test with the deck include Overconfidence and Hidden In Shadow

Nice deck!! I have published one with Vader and seventh like this. Have you tried Unyielding instead Intimidate and No Mercy instead Sound The Alarm???

No way I think Intimidate makes this deck... :(

@Carraminana and @claxattack thanks for the comments!

Intimidate is definitely the weakest card in the deck and was put in as a direct response to the local meta, Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master, that I was playing against for a tournament.

No Mercy I think would do well in this deck but more often than not you are using up all of the card in your hand every round and the No Mercy would just speed that process up. The extra card draw is the reason that I love the Dark Counsel and the Trust Your Instincts.

Doubt and Sound The Alarm are two cards that I love and make it into most decks I play. At the early game of this deck you are most likely using both resources to, hopefully, play a It Binds All Things or two and get out an upgrade so the zero cost for some form of mitigation is really important.

Cards I would recommend swapping in are Close Quarters Assault, Indomitable, Overconfidence, another Feel Your Anger, and the @Carraminana recommendation of Unyielding would be a good fit. Also I really think that a single Rise Again would work really well becuase there were several games that I have 5-7 resources unused at the end of the game.

Other changes that I am thinking about are a Kylo Ren's Lightsaber instead of the regular Lightsaber. Like I said the endgame resources are actually pretty good for this deck and a bit more power might be worth losing the redeploy. It needs to be tested though.

And a direct swap out Force Illusion for Hidden In Shadow but I am much less confident of this switch.

I would replace Dark Counsel with Crossguard Lightsaber to get more chances to trigger Shoto Lightsaber. Would also replace Lightsaber Pull with Lightsaber Throw. Replace also Trust Your Instincts with Overconfidence.

You need Overconfidence in there. Not enough general removal. Deflect is a burnt card against melee and Sound The Alarm is great but not removal.

Personally, I would pull one Makashi Training and the Lightsaber for two Vibroknifes, which would let you drop Intimidate in lieu of Overconfidence

And honestly, you don’t need Lightsaber Pull in here. Dark Presence would give you so much more control.

And yes, one Rise Again needs to be in here. I might pull a deflect

I love this pair, no one takes it seriously.

in my own build I use a little bit more control although I am thinking about replacing Rend and Trust your instincts with Force Illusion and makashi for more control. swdestinydb.com

Does this deck even need Ancient Lightsaber? Good alternative suggestions?

Melekim 78

@maximus the additional card draw granted by both Dark Counsel and Overconfidence are not something to be ignored and I htink really help the deck. For me Lightsaber Pull is a near essential card that always allos me to fish for the right lightsaber whenever needed, whether that is a good old fashioned Lightsaber to put on someone when they are about to die and have the redeploy, an Ancient Lightsaber for some healing, or the Shoto Lightsaber to generate or ping off shields.

@Dave Sharona The Deflect being included in this deck, much like I mentioned with Intimidate is a direct result of the local meta and the decks that I was most worried about going against. The three characters that concerned me the most were Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master, Sabine Wren - Explosives Expert, and Palpatine - Galactic Emperor. That is why I have those cards in there and if not for that they would both be swapped out for a more general form of control card and die removal.

Going with the Vibroknife over Makashi Training and then Dark Presence would be a good card to put in as well. I don't see the Dark Presence being used enough without the Vibroknife. I would have to give this a try and see how well it fits my play style.

With the games I have played, and the resources that I have had around at the end, I also feel that a single Rise Again definitely has a place in this deck.

@Ion87 does it NEED it? No, but I do consider it a pretty core card. If you are not going to include it the direct substitution would have to be some form of blue weapon so that you are more likely to be able to proc the Shoto Lightsaber ability. The first card that comes to mind it definitely the Crossguard Lightsaber.

However having the Ancient Lightsaber in there does something that is not in initially noticeable, it gives you several more round of survival against milling yourself. Several games with this deck I have been down to having only Ancient Lightsaber in hand that I can then play and heal for 2 allowing me to put that card back into my now empty deck. Getting into this cycle at the end of the game has taken a Count Dooku - Devious Strategist with 7 damage against him to a fully healed Dooku over several rounds and allowing me to grind the game out in the end by rolling in, resolving , dealing the damage I can, and healing for the two.

Additionally without the Ancient Lightsaber I would find a way to include ATLEAST one Rise Again, probably 2.

I put this combo together but with a Holocron package and man is it fun. You don’t get the same ID9 Seeker Droid abuse but you still start with 5 dice and if they target Count Dooku - Devious Strategist, you are free to abuse focus and fun with the sister while they try to whittle down the games Best tank.

Obviously, the list is slower that way but the blowout plays can be tremendous, where the melee version is more consistent and less susceptible to specific removal.

And currently, any blue villain deck without Intimidate is doing it wrong, don’t let anybody tell you differently.

Melekim 78

@Dave Sharona I initially started with the Sith Holocron package betended up favoring the mele package with the healing from Ancient Lightsaber and pinging / shield generation from [Shoto Lightsaber (/card/03051). I think that the intimidate deflect and feel your anger should be subbed in for the mitigation that best fits the local meta.

For me in true tournament I was playing in the only single card I would’ve swapped is a fee your anger for an overconfidence. Deflect and intimidate both put in some good work and we’re well worth the slot.
