This is the deck I had been working on leading up to worlds and really had fumbled with for some time trying to figure out the best 4-wide vehicles based list. Expect more write up from Artificery Version posted eventually and will probably discuss on the Knights of Ren podcast.

Quick breakdown

Day 1 swiss: I went 5-1 winning vs Thrawn/Talzin, Boba/Phasma, Boba/7th Sister, Qui-Gon/Yoda, and Yoda/Hondo. Losing only to HonestlySarcastic's Yoda/Ezra/Rookie Pilot vehicle hybrid deck.

Day 2 swiss: I went 3-0 winning vs Boba/Phasma, Rey/Aayla, Sabine/Ezra

Top 16: Lost to OTK 0-2 which should have been a very solid match for my deck but things just didn't click right.

Thoughts

Overall deck preformed great and was exceptional vs all the 2 character lists it was made to be able to beat. If I had managed to make it out of that top 16 match I would have had good matchups the whole way through the finals but won't dwell on that too much. Very happy with the performance of myself and the deck this year.

With only having 8 vehicles in your deck did you ever wish you had more? Also, I think Entangle is a pretty bad card, how much did you use it, and are there any cards you wish you would have not put in your deck?

If you can afford it entangle is bomb.

RebelTraitor 259

congratulations on the top with an out of nowhere deck!

RebelTraitor 259

also Have you considered playing u-wing? The special for 6-8 shields seems pretty impactful.

Well played on Day 2. Certainly blew my Sabine out of the water! Love the deck.

@5P33D Entangle is just a nice 2 die removal card that isn't terribly conditional. It definitely saw play in multiple games. And late game its absolutely worth it. I had been playing around with a 9th vehicle in place of a 2nd caution. Problem is the deck really looking for more 2 cost vehicles with modified HWK being unplayable in this one and Z-95 Headhunter just feeling really awful economy wise.

@RebelTraitor Thanks! I tried to shy away from the expensive ones like U-wing, while the benefits might have been there the resource gain simply isn't enough for that and one of the best ways of gaining money with this deck was with Aftermath and characters dying (thus making u-wing worse by the time I could afford it).

Part of the appeal of the deck was being able to withstand anything some of the faster decks can throw at you round 1 where they often can blow out vs other 2 character decks or even the Aayla/rose vehicles. This deck simply doesn't care as much if a character dies round 1 and if you have aftermath its even better feeling

I'm going to bring this deck to a Galactic Qualifier, but I'm thinking of changing it a bit. I like the Delta-7 Interceptor more than the Fang Fighter and ETA-2 Interceptor, I was wondering what you about this. I also want to put in 2 Vandalize since you have 4 character dice that aren't very powerful and I think it's a strong card.

Did you try Jedi Instructor instead of Jedi Temple Guard? It's 1 more life and can change another of your character dice on a gun face or resource face. I think the Jedi Temple Guard should have been the first target all the time because of it's ability. Would you replace Entangle and R2-D2 with another ETA-2 Interceptor and another Resistance Bomber? I think it would help to have 2 more vehicles to get out fast. What do you think? Congrats on your finish at World!

@5P33D I've honestly never even testing Delta-7 but with it having the same damage sides as Fang but only more expensive I never considered it. I don't really love ETA-2 but put it in over a Z-95 Headhunter. Never felt I truly needed vandalize or could afford it here.

@maximus I only tried the instructor in concept but never actual test because i really wanted to get to blue. But it never really sat well with me. While the Temple Guard was anti-synergistic most times with his die, the guardian effect and occasional extra shields definitely paid off. People often killed it first and that was OK. It definitely doesnt make enough money to be able to ramp out too many more vehicles unless more 2 cost ones existed that were worth playing and at this point I would never remove R2-D2, he was a real MVP.

I've been thinking that since the deck really needs a lot of resources to ramp out vehicles early it is hard to spend 1 on a Flank or Pinned Down early. For this reason Im considering putting in some free removal cards. Ones I'm considering are Loth-Cat and Mouse Hidden Motive and Sound The Alarm. What do you think?

Tacster 683

@5P33D Yea the cost of early removal like that can be rough, would definitely be worth testing with more 0 cost stuff.

I just have a couple more questions about the deck @TacsterI hope I'm not being annoying. I was wondering if you thought that having two C-3PO's was absolutely necessary? Because obviously since he is unique you can't have two on the table but it will help you get it faster. The last thing I want to say is that I'm thinking about using the old vehicle deck (eAalaya/eRose/Ezra) for a GC instead of this deck. Even though it has less health it seems that the character dice are a lot better and then you can also use the Modified HWK-290. Just wondering if you play tested with or against the old vehicle deck, and why you chose the the 4 character list over it. Well thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate your advice.

Oh hey I got a couple more questions haha. Just wondering about how you mulligan. If you don't get Tech Team or Rally Aid will you just mulligan your whole hand, or keep certain cards? I was thinking I will still keep T-47 Airspeeder, Aftermath, maybe C-3PO, R2-D2 and maybe Caution. So basically my question is just what you would keep in your starting hand? Also have you ever play tested Flanking Maneuver? I'm thinking of adding it.

RebelTraitor 259

why no force illusion?

Tacster 683

@5P33D C-3PO is just too important to the overall consistency of the deck not to run 2, and I would almost run 2 R2-D2 as well. Aayla/Rose/Ezra is still a great choice and should be smoother to play. I have play vehicle decks for the last 6 months so I have a ton of experience with Aaya/Rose/Ezra and was one of the first players to help popularize that one. The choice for 4 wide was to be extra druable against a fairly aggressive worlds meta being able to survive through big round 2 and 2 bursts while still ramping vehicles. Mulligan in this version the only vehicle i really wanna see is T-47 otherwise ramp cards (tech/rally/aftermath), consistency (C-3PO/R2-D2) and maybe 1 removal. I've not testing flanking maneuver, its not terrible idea, just never came around to it.

Tacster 683

@RebelTraitor The deck already goes through most all of its cards every round and theres too many key cards in the deck that illusion isnt necessary. Not to mention any one character is ok to lose. If anything I would consider something like Second Chance but that is probably too expensive.

Buffybot 323

Did you consider Appraise or Refit and why did you leave them out? Do you find you're able to use Rally Aid so that your "random" card is always a vehicle? I ask because my vehicle deck (Hera's Heroes) has both Appraise and Refit but not Rally Aid, I wasn't confident of Rally Aid being successful consistently enough. But you have way more experience with vehicle decks so I'd love your insight on that!
