MonksGamingBattlefield 387

Heyo!

First of all, I want to thank all my opponents for the crazy close matches and making them ones to remember for sure! I was nervously laughing and shaking thw whole way through and loved every second of it. One wild ride, is the simplest way of putting it!

This deck is so much fun to play and suggest you try it out if you are an avid fan of Palpatine - Unlimited Power decks! I suicided with this deck without Electromagnetic Pulses and anything to stop Mind Extraction, relying on the digging with Jabba The Hutt - Influential Kingpin for a delve or Dangerous Maneuvers to have a healthy guy either way. This deck was all about having a second win condition if Palpatine - Unlimited Power goes down and knowing most of my opponents were, most likely going to be hero, or my yellow villain opponents were going to be thinking I am running the usual list of no supports, so they discard their Desperate Measuress for rerolls or drop their hand to draw what they want or need. Once you saw it gone, you were free to go ham!

Here is the breakdown:

M1: Maul / Battle Droid / Retribution

  • Great game, tbh I was so scared of the aggro match ups as those are Palps silver bullet, besides mind extraction of course. This was a close game of of Jordan hitting his 3s with his PA but with Dangerous Maneuver it made things a little easier plus building so much money round one, allowing me to get 3 1 cost upgrades round 1 and then same round 2 brought a quick Fatal Blow to end Maul - Skilled Duelist reign. (WIN, 1-0)

M2: eChopper / C-3PO / R2D2 aka Mcbober

  • I absolutely dislike hitting team mates during tourneys as everyone else does and even more so, I felt this was an utter loss from the time I saw his name on the sheet. We both know each other's deck and Chopper droids was again, my kryptonite. Aggro not a good sight at all, plus Mcbober being who he is, I was shaking in my boots. Match went and I again got 3 upgrades down round 1, with Chopper not drawing upgrades at all! And again 3 upgrades for me, and none for him round 2. By end of round 2 and all the pitching being done on his side for the subpar rolls, I was able to take out R2. It was a shut out from there. Little to no damage on either character was very hard to swallow and I'm sad that it happened to Mcbober that way. (WIN, 2-0)

M3: eChopper / C-3PO / R2D2

  • Since I am soooo lucky, another aggro match-up! :D This was a great match where Chopper rolled 2s and got the upgrades he needed to put the pressure on early. I still put on a fight but it was no match for the consistent 7 damage swing. (LOSS, 2-1)

M4: e4-LOM / Grievous / Sentinel

  • This match-up is what Palp lives for and felt great after the loss I just suffered. Also, this guy, didn't get your name I am sorry, was pretty awesome. We were just having a great time while we were playing and paying too much attention to our neighboring games constant judge calls. But we both felt like it was a casual game which just made it even more appealing. Much love to him putting oon a fight, but with a fatal blow and rolling hot with 2s on Palp and Niman Mastery it made it hard to sustain. (WIN, 3-1)

M5: eChopper / C-3PO / R2D2

  • I just couldn't anymore with this type of luck. With the 225+ players, maybe, far less with drops by this point, it was disheartening to hit 3 Choppers but I was fueled on a Monster and had a never giving up attitude! This was a team partner of my first loss, and such a great player, which made me even more motivated but here we go! This one went differently on only getting 1 or 2 upgrades on Palp round 1, which made me a little scared, but drew Delve Vader's Fist by round 2. He was not getting the rolls he wanted, disrupts and blanks mostly, and only had one upgrade on chopper, which put me to a good place. Played Fist used all the focuses to chain into 9 damage to kill R2 round 2. He was still spiking damage but not enough after a Bacta Therapy and Dangerous Maneuver, to keep me far from lethal. Such a hard fought match! (WIN, 4-1)

M6: eMaul / Commando / Retribution - James from Dice of Failure

  • This match was so damn close, and such an amazing match! We both were taking blows and I was taking consistent damage from the Mandalorian Super Commando . So much happened in this match back and forth. I killed Maul, he killed Jabba, and I had a detrimental point of the game, where James had claimed with only 5 health left on Commando, to truly YOLO it to focus to a special and try to roll another special or 4 side on Force Storm or just take the 4 damage I had showing and go onto the next round. I chose the safe way and put the 4 into the Commando, feeling really good of my chances since I had not used Pushing Slash yet. We both draw up and he looked at me and said "I am so sorry, I drew it on my last card for the hand" with me not understanding then looking at my Palp sitting at 10 dmg... NOOOOO! first action play Mind Extraction... DEATH :D (LOSS, 4-2)

M7: Aphra / Grievous / Sentinel

  • Another match-up I felt very happy into, especially with heavy indirect but still was a close match-up nonetheless. I was able to get key discards from his hand via Jabba and start whittling down General Grievous - Droid Armies Commander to kill and then Doctor Aphra - Artifact Hunter to turn off triggers. While he was bursting me every chance he got. Getting lucky and pulling Dangerous Maneuver yet again in opportune times allowed me to stall off. But this was now at a point at the end of round 5, where he had only one buck and I had 10 damage on Palp. I knew he had the dreaded card I just was devastated with last round and knew I needed to spike right now or I was dead. While he was ditching to reroll and get a resource, I was ditching to kill. I was fortunate enough to hit it before him. It was literally a roll off! Such a great close match! (WIN, 5-2)

M8: One more... eChopper / C-3PO / R2D2

  • ONE BRUTAL MATCH! Thank you so much for making this match so great. It went to time where he was spiking doing as much damage as he could muster every round. I had a opportunity to spike 3PO and took it and I think was the detrimental choice of the match. If I went after Chopper and R2 would have ben different but this was a hard fought match back and forth. It was shown to be my end when using Jabbas trigger, pulling the 4 cards and seeing both bactas puttiing them on bottom of my deck. I have not used either Lightsaber Mastery cards but he was able to roll the hotness and decimate my palp before any use and any of the now bottom of the deck bactas. (LOSS, 5-3)

END: Missing bubble... One crazy run and so damn happy with all the opponents I faced and all the pods to be had! Than you all for the support along the way and support given to all my L8Night Gaming folks! Much love Community!

CHANGES: Only changes I would make is adding in Mind Extraction hate. either event or Protective Suit. other than that it is all about durdling and playing everything end of the round while mitigating and moving damage every chance you get.

Hope you enjoyed this and hope I got to see you around at Worlds! If not, I will happily see you on Tuesday nights! #isittuesdayyet ? :D
