Hey guys, Jay again!

So this deck list is almost the same as before. The idea is still the same, get out as many zero cost upgrades as possible while only paying for the 3 on tusken, force strike, vibro knife if you need it, boundless ambition and rise again. Every single round you can make use of mos eisley you should do it. It helps generate resources for your rise again. Just throw your force speed or fast hands back down the next turn. ALOT of people say not to use rise again and argue this point with me, I used Rise Again in this tournament several times and it won me the game. Not every Vader Raider can have it though, I just built mine around spending minimal resources so when the time comes I can indeed rise again. This is a straight up aggro deck, as you can see I only have 8 cards for mitigation, but you can burst tons of damage very quickly.

The ideal scenario is to have fast hands and force speed on Vader so you can action cheat like every other top deck out there. Vader is susceptible to mitigation and this combo helps a lot with that. Force strike and bait n switch are essential and do 12 damage combined alone if you're able to get all 3 off, almost regardless of what you roll.

This deck is still weakest against mill, but can still succeed with a little bit of luck.

Round one was against Qui Rey- I had vibro knife round 1 and crushed qui, wasn't even close.

Round two was against palp. I was able to do good damage and had deflects/ he doesn't like yous to mitigate his die fairly easy. I also resolved a 2 disrupt almost every round in order to keep him from rising again. That is probably the biggest thing that allowed me to win. 2 disrupt a round can keep a rise again off palp for a few rounds and 15 damage is easy to achieve in Vader raider.

Round three was emo kids. This one was to the wire. I have a tusken with 2 health left and he had a Vader with 2 health left. I managed to claim before he was able to and rolled in tusken with a mind probe, vibrokife, and fast hands. Rolled a 3 for a dollar on tusken, a +2 on vibroknife, and a mind probe special. What a god roll lol. I was able to secure that game but it was much closer than I wanted it to be.

Round for was the strangest deck there. This deck was able to perform well. It was a maz, and 2 rebel commandos. Such a strange deck right? I was able to pull out a win but barely. 28 health is a lot for Vader to chew through. He was also a god at rolling, he was able to get 2 bowcaster about every single game and those do work when you roll 4s. His dice were hot and he had a lot of mitigation but loth cat/ electroshock/ negotiate/ defensive position/ rebel assault and whatever else he was using. Very strange deck that was surprising good.

The cut-

I played in the same guy from round 4, I won the first, he won the second, I won the third. Not much to say about these games besides the second one was very close.

The finals were me and Sir Christopher, both of us were playing Vader Raider. The first round he crushed me getting a force lighting out of a holocron onto Tusken turn one. He dominated me. Round 2 I was the closest of the matches, it pretty much came down to who was able to kill the others Vader first. I was lucky enough to have the damage before he did. The last game I had a god draw and rolled pretty well. I started with holocron and force speed among a force strike and bait n switch. I was able to steam roll while he didn't draw into holocrons or fast hands. Pretty much this entire match up was who got the better draw and rolled better, there wasn't much outplaying or outskilling each other- just straight up who was luckier and in a best of 3 I was able to be luckier.

All in all Vader Raider is imo the best deck in the meta right next to Poe Maz.

-------------------------- Below is from when I made the deck the first time ------------------- So in this deck list there are a lot of 0 cost cards. The main idea/ combo for this deck is to mulligan for your zero costs and Boundless Ambition; you play your zero costs and then boundless into more zero costs so you have a chance of getting your Holocron, Fast Hands, and Force Speeds out super early. At this point you just ramp up as fast as you can while using Fast Hands on your Force Speed specials and save your resources for a turn 3 or 4 Rise Again on Vader. Since you have tons of zero costs- saving up is easy. Mos Eisley helps as well because you can pick up your Fast Hands, Force Speed, or Holocron to get a resource. Also, Force Strike/ Bait and Switch really helps Vader pump out a ton of damage.

Mill is this decks weakness- when playing against mill simply play smart aka don't use boundless or play too many cards when you don't need to.

Congrats on your store champ, i've been following your decks closely. How do you feel this deck would compete against your VaderDA/FN-2199 deck?

@thBuckethead Thank you man! :) Honestly, I think this deck is better than the Vader FN deck because Big Vader has more health and having yellow villain is just so good. This deck starts out doing higher faster damage and just ramps from there. Vader FN is great don't get me wrong, but it's bursts damage doesn't come fast, having said that when it gets a few combos off of FN (Baton+Rocket Launcher+Baton same turn) then it's got some of the highest single round damage in the game. I think for now, Vader Raider is above Vader FN but if Vader Raider ever gets an errata then I can see Vader FN being almost on par with it.

i lost to decks similar to this, but I would say maybe try to work in vibroknuckles to put on raider. then you can really dish out the damage.

How do you think this deck will do with Fast Hands becoming Yellow character according to the newest errata? I'd imagine it's not a huge nerf, but it could make a difference.

So I've never built a Vader Raider deck before so decided to put this one together to see how it plays. Honestly, this thing is insane. I was going to take it to store champs next weekend but now with the errata, I'll go with something else.

I understand the need though and it does balance the playing a field a bit with Poe/Maz and Vader Raider, giving some other decks a chance to shine.

i ran the deck for x wars. got top 12.. i made a ton of miss plays. but other then that. i was 2-1 vs poe.. scary vs emo kids. but went 2-0 vs it.. i lost in the top 16 to the winner with funkar. i also lost to a palpatine earlier.. overall i went 3-2 in the swiss. lost in top 16 to funkar. they made consolation for the 8 losers to play against each other for 100$ one time win to top out 8-12.. i won vs emo kids.. the deck gives great options. always had resources. and all 7 games were differnt.. fast hands did help. but with vibro knife plus sides. not always good to have fast hands vs force speed. i ran the deck exactly and didnt change anything. so i thank you for your deck.

@MarcusGrayI am back finally! Dice Tower Con was awesome! Can't wait to get back into Destiny though! So the Maz 2x Rebel Trooper was strange, basically just mitigation, second chance, and weapons. I think the only reason it did decent is because it's a large pool of health tbh. A strange deck to be sure.

@Rockonfire18 Nice dude! I was there in Orlando all weekend as well but didn't go to Xwars! This deck can shred Poe Maz- however nothing can beat a lucky Poe Maz. If Poe Maz gets fast hands, hit n run and rolls specials then it wins- before the errata of course!

@jeremyeagles Vibroknucklers is definitely awesome. It might be slotted over Fast Hands now!

@Tyious No need! Already do enough damage plus you wanna resolve your melee ASAP to avoid mitigation!

@Tybrid a little, I will be discussing this in the next podcast. The errata definitely hit Vader Raider harder than Poe Maz.

@ordinaryjedi You're right this deck is INSANE before the errata, however I don't think it is bad after either. I will continue to try Vader Radier and see what I can do.

@Jmiahddixon after the errata, do you have any key changes you would make? I was thinking maybe dropping the Fast Hands x 2 and adding Friends in Low Places

IMO, I think errata on fast hands hurts vader raider a bit more than poe/maz, but not excessively. you don't want fast hands on poe / vader because you WANT 5 rounds of play and the ability of the opponent to respond, otherwise you are just playing by yourself.

I completely agree with the ammo belt errata also. The thing about a game like this, is you need to protect the format. Card / health recursion that gets excessive ruins the format. The format is that of a 30-45 minute game with 1-4 characters with 7-35 total health or whatever. 5-ish rounds of play with x number of decisions, and x% of counters possible. The format is very important for long-term game design. The only thing I wished was a more nerfed is that palp should only get +1 damage per resolved dice or if that only worked once per round. it's way too strong and ruins the format in the other direction of making games too short with too few counters and decisions. Palp decks force the meta to respond by having crime lord decks and poe/maz decks because almost nothing else has a prayer against 5-10 damage per round.

We don't want more predictable, controllable, always-winning decks. We want fun, thematic and creative game designs that allow the most replayability and the most in-game decisions that lead to different outcomes and game experiences and allow the better, more thoughtful and strategic player to win.
