This is the Hero OTK deck I piloted to a 2-2 finish, at a SC earlier today.
Game 1: eDooku/Boba In this game the deck played perfectly. He did his stuff, and then claimed (he is a fairly new player and had never seen, heard of or played against a Launch Bay OTK). I did my card draw shenanigans and then Fond Memories and then killed both his characters round 1. He was having fun during the whole time as he was laughing every time I drew more cards. 1-0
Game 2: Yondo In this game the deck didn't do as well as the first game, but it did kill his team round 2. In this game my opponent played smarter than my opponent in the first game. He did his stuff and then kept on passing. I drew some cards, but then ran out of resources. So I claimed, and then got my two resources. I rolled out claimed my resources. Then he claimed and removed Ezra's 2. So I drew the rest of my cards and then I played Salvo to kill his whole team for the win. 2-0
Game 3: Thrawn/Snoke I got a really good starting hand of Award Ceremony, Rebel, Don't Get Cocky, Friends in Low Places, and Well-Connected. Like the best hand you can have with this deck. He rolls out Thrawn and says 0, so he discards my Don't Get Cocky. I was still feeling really good with my hand until I draw 4 cards from Award Ceremony, 4 more cards from Rebel, and 4 more cards from a second Award Ceremony that I drew and then no more draw cards. So I played the Launch Bay with double Premonitions for free and then played Fierce Resolve to do 6 to Thrawn (He had discarded a couple of my cards and I had to discard to reroll so that I could play the Rebel earlier). It rolled on range, so then I did 6 more damage to Thrawn for the kill. Turn 3 I discarded down to draw some more cards. I got some draw cards, so I played them. I had probably 10 cards in my hand with no resources, but I had a Well-Connected. So he did his discard die and of course got my Well-Connected that I needed to play to draw more cards. It was a bad play on my part by not playing it as soon as he rolled the discard side, but that just comes down to playing the deck a lot, which I have not done. So I discarded 3 cards to get the resource side on somebody so that I could play my cards. So I finally got the resources, but it had costed me cards so I hit him for 5 with the Launch bay and 4 more with Rose and the Gungan Warrior. Then next round he plays Probe to discard my last two cards and wins with a mill. 2-1 This game was live streamed by Artificery on Twitch, and you can still find it on Twitch recorded, if you want to watch the match up.
Game 4 Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight/Ezra Bridger - Force-sensitive Thief In this game my deck did horrible I had a really good starting hand with Award Ceremony and Renewed Purpose with some other 3 random cards I can not remember. So I draw 7 cards an not a single draw card came up. So I play Cheat to get the Award Ceremony back and drew 4 more cards and NO draw cards came up. So then I claimed and had to discard down, but by then it was all over, cuz having to discard down to 2 cards in your hand means that I discarded like 10 cards at the end of the round. He also got a Darksaber out round 2, and it rolled 4 and then round 3 it rolled 4. Also the Hyperspace Jump round 3 didn't help either. 2-2
But it turns out even if I had won that game I would have missed the cut at 3-1. I know that, cuz the guy who beat me missed the cut at 3-1. So all we were playing for was a cardboard deck box, cuz I missed top 8 cut at 2-2 with a weak strength of schedule.
The changes I would make after the SC would only be, take out the Cheat for a Investigate. The Cheat I thought would be really good to pull back anything I wanted from my discard pile, but all I pulled out was draw cards. Also Investigate was a lot better than I thought, cuz I could look at the top 5 cards of my deck, keep the card draw card, and then put the rest back in any order (which didn't really matter since I drew the rest anyway). Twice when I played Investigate the card draw card was the 5th card down, so I couldn't have gotten it with any card draw card I could have played from Cheat.
I hope you enjoyed this write up I made. I am going to another SC tomorrow. So I will make another write up either tomorrow or the next day. Thanks

Sorry for such a long response. It is just hard sometimes to explain why some cards are good or not. |

I’ve been following the Hero OTK for a few days now and noticed your comments editing the deck. I am interested in trying out this deck for an SC on August 11th. It’s a very competitive location and they had over 70 players at the last SC. I think this could potentially surprise some people and make a decent run at the tournament, however I don’t want to use it yet because otherwise people might learn how counter it. So I’m wondering if after your upcoming SC if you could share the most consistent version of this deck and any advice because I think if someone figures out the right combos this could be literally unstoppable. |
Your decklist looks pretty neat, and I like the tech of Fierce Resolve, that's pretty slick. One thing to try out, if you have it, is a C-3PO, possibly in place of the Concentrate. With the 3PO ability, you could use the 1-sides on your character die as a focus to emulate Concentrate, and then later on you wouldn't be as dependent on hitting a range side, so you wouldn't have to reroll as much as you did in your Thrawn/Snoke match (in theory). Best of luck in your SC today, looking forward to seeing the write-up! |

Sorry guys, false alarm. I ended up not going to the SC today. But I think I am gonna go to an SC on the 20ish. |
was long con that good? in theory you don't need the resources, especially late in the game. how good was it in practice?
