PLEASE NOTE: This is my first deck I've ever made for the game.

The premise of this deck is to spam shields to mitigate damage, dealing more damage with Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master all the while, and then swing in later game when both characters have lots of shields for a bunch of damage, enhanced by their own shields using cards such as Ataru Strike and Riposte.

I am open to suggestions for improving the deck, so please leave a comment if you have an idea for how I can upgrade. I don't know if there is a Meta or anything that would stop this from being effective at all, but advice on that would be welcome as well!

Thank you in advance for all of your help! :D

EDIT 1: I used to have Luke Skywalker - Reluctant Instructor, but he was swapped for 2 dice Yoda - Wizened Master. Dagger of Mortis came out for It Binds All Things, and I worked in two Force Heal to overcome unblockable damages.

EDIT 2: A lot of great aadvice was given on the first iteration of this deck, and I've kind of revamped like half of the cards, haha! Now I've got a tiny bit of mitigation, and more weapons that function with shields, so it hits harder more consistently. More help is still sought, thanks a million!

Okay, this is better in my opinion. I like the mitigation and the upgrades. However, I'm seeing an excessive amount of cards that give shields. Remember that until you can get your Defensive Teachings out, you can have a limit of 3 shields. I would try the card draw simulator a few times to see if you are okay with what you get. If not, I would look at a few "redeploy weapons to move over to Yoda as soon as Qui-Gon goes down (Maybe even a couple Force Waves for when you have extra cash [great Yoda card]). Some other events that do different things other than give shields would be really solid as well for another option.

I really like where this is going.

@DarthVaderRocks I was reading some rulings, and even with three shields, if Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master is about to be given shields, you can trigger his effect to do a damage. Also, with Riposte, and people dealing damage to destroy my shields, I thought the extra shield grants would help. I'll try and do a few test runs, when I can, and go from there. For now, some of the practice hands I had were getting me to deal 8 damage on turn one, which I THINK is a lot? I mean, Yoda only has 10 health...

That IS a ton! You have to take into account your opponents actions though. but nevertheless good job!

@DarthVaderRocks What would you think about putting Force Heal in instead of Force Protection to heal up damage that has been dealt, instead of giving more shields?

Much better deck :) I wonder why someone who has 8 legendaries, some worth 50 bucks each, is building their first deck, but then - none of my business ;)

My suggestions:

  • Ditch one Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber - you have 2 Lightsaber Pull, that's enough
  • Possibly add either Rey's Lightsaber or Dagger of Mortis, or any stick with Redepoy. In the current deck, all your upgrades die with the character,, nothing to overwrite them with even.
  • Ditch Take Cover; get dice removal instead (e.g. Guard). Actually lack of dice removal overall is a weakness of this deck, just as it wa for the Luke Skywalker - Reluctant Instructor version. Consider adding more.
  • Replace Caution with Pacify; yes, it's less shields, but it also works as opponent's dice removal and can save your life
  • I'd consider swapping Ataru Strike for Synchronicity. Yes, I liked Ataru Strikeat first too, but it's just such an inconsistent card, especially if the opponent manages to mitigate your char. die with sticks. And trust me, they will once they see 3+ shields piling up on Qui-Gon Jinn - Ataru Master! Synchronicity on the other hand is 0 cost, much more playable, and 2 unblockable.
  • Finally, you have very little ways to gain resources. Yoda helps a lot, that's true, but perhaps a Destiny wouldn't hurt. Trust me, 2+ sticks are totally worth it on turn 1 if you can roll out a 3-cost weapon on turn 1

Good luck!

Here are a couple of suggestions.

  1. Replace battlefield with Obi-Wan's Hut - Tatooine

2.Replace 2x Force Protection and 1x Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber with 1x Dagger of Mortis and 2x Heirloom Lightsaber

3.Replace 2x Take Cover, 2x Defensive Stance and 2x Momentum Shift with 2x Hidden Motive, 2x Overconfidence, and 2x It Binds All Things

4.Replace 2x Ataru Strike with 2x Synchronicity

5.Replace 2x Defensive Teaching with 2x Mind Trick or Beguile

Hope that helps!
