Note: This was Trilogy as of Last Saturday!

So despite living in Chicago I was unable to attend the first 2 days of Adepticon on account of starting a a new job. But lo and behold Saturday came and I thought I was all set to play some Destiny! Those of you know know me. know I am fond of Qui-Gon Jinn - Defiant Jedi Master & Yoda - Wizened Master and that was he deck I was prepared to play... However when I arrived I found that the morning event was actually Trilogy! Don't get me wrong, I like Trilogy format in theory, but I had stayed away from since last Adepticon mostly due to lack of interest at my locals and a preference for 2 wide decks, which I heard weren't very good anymore. But I didn't want to wait around for pods (who knew when they were going to fire with the new swiss format for GQs) so I said screw it and signed up anyways. I figured at worst, I could convert my Qui-Gon Yoda deck, right?

Turns out I could not convert my Qui-Gon Yoda deck. To start, I just didn't have enough cards since I ran Solidarity and even with Bitter Rivalry I would have been in a tight spot and forced to run even more non-optimal stuff than this does... So I took the remaining decks and junk I had on me and set to brewing, and in 30 minutes or less this is what I came up with! I started with Anakin Skywalker - Podracing Prodigy & Theed Royal Palace - Naboo because prior to the nerf Theed was nuts and so why wouldn't I use it? Looking at Partners I was already partial to Kylo Ren - Tormented One because I also took him and Anakin to Adepticon last year and did almost as well(4-2). But I also didn't have much else on me so my hands were tied.

The deck is pretty straight forward: Odd Package of cards, high percentage of Villain Cards to help Anakin get his specials off. The Odd Package may seem... Odd but it adds 2 things that are sorta hard to come by in Trilogy for Villains: Cheap Healing & Consistent Removal. Namely, Spell of Removal was hard removal 86% of the time, more if my mulligans prioritized the 4 even cards I ran Doubt & Crossguard Lightsaber. Also with Theed I usually had the extra resource around for 1 costs and 3 costs. Another key card was Force Wave, really helped vs 3 wide even though I didn't have anything to chain into it. Also probably the biggest mvp was Count Dooku's Solar Sailer, that card put in work by giving me cards for Anakin to discard and helped me maximize my dice damage ever round off it's focus sides. The deck does have a pretty glaring weakness though, one that I didn't really have the cards to deal with: Mill! The one loss of the day was to Mill, which kicked my butt. It probably didn't help that one of the cards that could have helped bust through (Frighten to get past Yoda Shields on my target) got milled early. Anyways, the deck wasn't anything amazing but I had a great run and I don't think I've ever just build a deck on the fly and did so well at an event. So here is my quick tourney report of what I played against:

R1 vs Nicholas Nelson on eKylo/ePryce - Not going to lie when I sat down I though of how unlucky I was to sit against a Kylo round 1 playing a mono colored deck, though thought it was fitting since I was playing Kylo myself(karma et what). However, thanks to winning the roll off and getting a Solar Sailor into play I won the damage race and killed his Kylo off first which put the match in my favor. Win.

R2 vs Bill Weber on eYoda/Anakin/Cassian - Round 1 Anakin's Podracer as well as some key mills put this one out of reach for me. Accepted the loss, I didn't really have the tech on me to help with mill so not much to do on this one. Loss.

R3 vs Ricardo Rosado on eIden/eSebulba/AR - This was a surprise since I lost the roll, I thought my vehicle match up was pretty bad but I managed to find 10 damage the first round after he got his fire-spray out which kept me in it. Combined with a Witch Magick for 3 I turned momentum my way. Win.

R4 vs Ryan Donnely on eHan3/eBiggs/AR - Dark Counsel was the card here tbh, it helped fix and smooth out my draws. I am pretty sure I killed Han earlier than he'd liked since that stopped him from playing an Easy Pickings later. That said the deck was fast, fast enough for me to never really get a good claim in, so Aerial Advantage was killer. Still got it though, Win.

R5 vs Matt Mirando on eJynn2/eCassian Won the roll off, got to cooking with a Stifle. I could usually set it down and active Kylo Freely since they still wanted to hold removal while he instead put all his money into upgrades. Nearly paid off, but 2 Witch Magicks put me out of Damage Range while Mill didnt quite get there either. Win.

R6 Benjamin Cheung on eSnoke/Traitor/Nute - I focused Snoke down first, which thanks to some great rolls/Kylo2 calls, I ended up getting him early Round 2 to turn off his power action. Despite that, he kept up pressure with support damage all game and though I won it was still a very close so props to him for some great play. Also a special shout out to Benjamin for being sleeve brothers! :D Win.

So I went 5-1 with a deck I made in 30 minutes or less. Would I recommend someone do that again? No! But I have to say that was probably the most fun I've had at a Destiny event, riding by the seat of my pants. However I recognize how lucky, and probably would have not enjoyed it was much if I was losing. But hey I got a cool story out of it all, right?

Rip theed. Super cool deck though

@Tim Thanks! RIP Theed in deed, I think a better change would have been to make it a Truce but c'est la vie. And yeah, the deck turned out suprisingly well, in hindsight I wish I'd had a few At Odds for the list to help with the mill match some, but what can you do when you're in that situation? Still had lots of fun though for sure.
