So, the plan here is simple: Speed.

Battle Droid can activate other Battle Droids, so that's gonna be fast on it's own. But, they're stupid squishy, so they don't work well with upgrades... like at all (I've learned this the hard way). But, large numbers of Supports don't make them work well either, as they take up a lot of actions too! My solution?

Put in only the bare minimum.

Training turns any Battle Droid into a Super Droid, with a MUCH higher chance that it can activate another Droid. I'm not 100% sure, but the fact it says "if this die just rolled indirect damage" implies to me that this might actually be PER die, but until someone tells me for sure, I'm going to assume not. If so, then I just made Battle Droid activate 2 characters without any difficulty, which greatly increases the odds of activating all 5 in 1 action.

But, even without that, the main focus of the deck isn't the Battle Droids or the Training. It's Astromech and Separatist Landing Craft. YOU MUST MULLIGAN FOR THESE CARDS!!! If you get both, then Astromech guarantees a special for Separatist Landing Craft, and combined with Docking Bay - Finalizer and Tech Team, you have infinite and FREE copies of Separatist Landing Craft.

Combine this with a slew of anti-dice cards, a Chance Cube to make up for the pathetic resource generation (though Separatist Landing Craft can help in a pinch), and you should be able to generate an INFINITE number of Droids. That you can then activate with 2-3 actions on average, and deal tons of damage with. It doesn't matter if the other guy can do a ton of damage then.

About the only thing I haven't figured out a counter for yet is Mill, but I always suck against Mill so...

But the main benefits of this deck is tons of Dice Removal, and potentially tons of damage as I keep generating new Droids to attack with. I should be able to keep my field relatively full with the combo, and it should in theory overwhelm with numbers. We'll see how it works in practice.

No Battle Formation..?

@edwardrekishiI don't have this card pool memorized, so it's not like I'm going to put in every card I need. That said, I should probably delete this deck. I've tested it, and after so many different attempts to make Battle Droids not suck, I'm dismissing them as trash all-around, since I have never once won a game with them. Or even come close.

I've had limited success with 3 Droids and Nute Gunray - Separatist Viceroy who gives a little resource gen and chokes out the opponent until he dies. Usually quickly.

Resources are the issue for the most part, but where I found some success was getting Ground Battalion out and then ideally Lookout Post, Target Practice is also super good in this deck.

I've been trying to get indirect damage to work - it's looking like it's going to only be Trilogies viable for now, at least until the last set rotates out.

I think Battle Droids can be legit but this build is missing some key cards. Try adding Attrition, Aftermath, Armored Support. I'd drop training because a two drop on a 6 health character is risky. I love playing the 5-wide but little variation in the builds it seems.

@BobLobLaw94 GDPI have had 0 success with any Battle Droid decks. They just die too fast. 9/10 times, a Droid dies each turn, and it just can't keep up with other decks after 2 turns on average. Indirect Damage is too weak to make Droids viable right now.

Again I would drop all your weapons, Tech Team, Astromech. You need stuff like Lockdown and Scorched Earth. You are playing around the Separatist Landing Craft too much and not the potential of doing a lot of indirect damage a turn. Sure it will struggle against 3 character decks with close to 30 health but it can easily compete with two character decks. (Again it will never be great but certainly not awful).

@BobLobLaw94 GDPI focused on Separatist Landing Craft because the entire deck's theme was built around having an army of Battle Droids, which doesn't work.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having trouble with your battle droids. I have been pleasantly surprised how well mine have been doing. It moves fast, and hits hard and then claims the battlefield, Carbon-freezing Chamber - Bespin, removing one of your opponent's best character dice for next round.

Give it a try if you'd like, and let me know how it works for you. swdestinydb.com
