Put your opponent on a deck timer to kill you. You have effectively 42 health and nearly every event gets rid of your opponents cards. You could feasibly win by damage with this deck, but why when you can just watch your opponents hopes and dreams slip away with every card lost. If you're lucky they won't even be expecting a mill deck since none of these characters are mill. Rookie mistake on their part.

Tricks and Tips:

1) If you win the roll off don't take your battleground.

2) Put your shields on Jedi Instructor then put your first Ascension Gun on her. While your opponent is working on killing her try to get a Second Chance down on Hired Gun then use Bestow to move the Ascension Gun to the Hired Gun. This works with any upgrade but Ascension Gun seems to be the best at baiting people because it's special nets you two cards off their deck.

3) Play Hidden Agenda on someone that is not being attacked. Mid game use it to play Fall Back and get rid of your opponents upgrades.

4) Don't forget to use C-3PO to change any dice side to discard. The Hired Gun 3 damage for 1 resource is great for this.

This seem fun. Have you thought about Disarm? any upgrades off the table are great for this type of deck and hired gun enables it nicely

Cool idea. I wouldn't pick Command Centre though. Gives away your plan AND you'll never be claiming. Just moisture farm it i reckon.

Valador 11

With just your character dice you can get up to a value of 8, Planned Explosion might be fun.

Sidehatch 48

@chazz I would probably pick Echo Base - Hoth over Moisture Farm - Tatooine as it gives your opponent less advantage and is mildly beneficial for this deck.

hmm why use a rookie without any vehicle?

stranglebat 832

because hes a 7 cost red dice

Tuark 235

I don't really need Disarm with Retreat in the deck. It's overkill with 42 health.

Tuark 235

@Sidehatch One of the main strategies of this deck is Ascension Gun with Command Center - Lothal since you don't have any actual mill characters. That's why on the roll off you never take your own battlefield. With 4 characters you're most likely never going to claim anyways.

Tuark 235

Oops, I meant to say I don't need Disarm with Fall Back in deck. My bad @stranglebat

Tuark 235

@luizanovaes There's one vehicle lol. I couldn't have a cool deck name like Rookie Mistake, without the Rookie Pilot in there. But it really is about getting as much health on the board as possible. Mill needs survive to late game, a lot of health gives you that.

Tuark 235

Also Rookie Pilot gives me access to red cards. C-3PO is another key card that I mulligan for. He allows you to get resources or discard or shields depending on what you want to do during a turn. His flexibility is amazing in a deck like this.

@Tuark I see what you mean. I am concerned about relying on just one card though. Have you tried including New Orders or Cheat as a backup plan? Also, I find it is usually harder for hero to discard from hand. Despite the slower pacing, have you thought about trying War-Torn Streets - Jedha?

Tuark 235

@Sidehatch that's a good point. I haven't played any games with War-Torn Streets - Jedha. I might give it a try after some more play testing. Don't forget that Ascension Gun, EMP Grenades T-47 Airspeeder all have a discard side on them. What you'll find with this deck is that it's all the little things that add up to a win. If they have support removal, oh well you still have your upgrades to mill with. If they have dice removal you still have your events milling them. If they are milling your hand get your upgrades and supports out to do the job. You basically make your opponent feel like everything they do is a Rookie Mistake.

@Tuark just brilliant! And love the deck name and concept :)

tunewalker 74

Dont see much of a point for hidden agenda when you dont have any 2 cost events to use along side it. Seems like a waste to use it instead of something else to help you mill faster or live longer.

Tuark 235

@tunewalker Yeah, it's really only in there for Fall Back but it can also act as a resource battery that can't be disrupted for the 1 cost events. I was thinking with Fall Back it would give me a cheap mid game reset. But you could probably replace them with Disarm. As mentioned before Disarm would be good with Hired Gun 3 damage side. I haven't play tested this much, most people in my play group don't like playing against this deck.

stranglebat 832

Also you mentioned retreat over disarm but thats not in the list, neither is the speeder you mentioned. Any chance you are refering to an updated list?

stranglebat 832

Nevermind i blanked on the speeder haha

Tuark 235

@stranglebat Yeah I mistakenly referred to Retreat sorry about that, I meant Fall Back. I did some play testing this weekend and found that the Hidden Agenda and Fall Back combo is much better than having Disarm. I had a game where I was able to get rid of 4 of an opponents upgrades and allowed me to win the game.
