Jyn / Commando is all about speed and getting value out of her cost reduction ability.

EDIT: v2 Fast Hands and Planetary Uprising exchanged for Jet pack and Never Tell Me the Odds

This deck wants to play 2 yellow events per turn and then claim to resolve shooting by the battle ground. Optimally this is a control card and damaging like Reversal or Let the Wookie Win. Yet, the damage output is a tad less than Vader/Luke/IG-88 etc, and as such it plays alot of control stuff to which is energized by the tempo cards.

The tempo card Infamous is what makes it tick. Always mull for it. We aim for turns like; play Ambushed Reversal through Infamous, play Hold Out, roll Jyn, next turn Claim to resolve her dice. Or roll dice, then turn all to their damage side by NTMTO at Ambush speed by Infamous.

A key card is Rebel which basically is another cost reduction, but hits the whole deck. It´s preferably used on Reversal, Uprising or Second Chance as these are the pivotal cards.

Infiltrate is for another cheap stepping stone or to just lie there as a threat to their rerolls. It´s an effective psychologial hamper. Otherwise it fuels Loth-Cat.

Play wise; mull for Infamous card, at least one upgrade and control card. Always claim over resolving that odd / /

This deck looks awesome. I am not great at building on ideas but I was liking the combo of Jyn and Rebel Commando. I am interested in play testing it. What is the downside of throwing training in since Jyn is going to be the main target? Without Fast Hands it Infiltrate as good?

Scactha 888

I love it so far. The cost reduction ability, the great colour combination and Jyns top die is a lovely match. Training works against Never Tell, so it´s out atm.

Infiltrate is mostly a stepping stone for overwriting, yet it could be shifted for Maz's Goggles. I go back and forth on whether defense or offense is best. This is the defensive choice and adds up to the 4th Upgrade with , making that a more reliable strategy.

Hey I play tested your first version a little bit and I really like this deck but I personally would make a few changes.

-2 Infiltrate

-2 Loth-Cat and Mouse

+2 Fast Hands

+1 Maz's Goggles

+1 C-3PO

I think dropping Planetary Uprising was a good idea. It becomes a dead card against faster decks(which exist) and it's 2 cost was a hindrance.

Fast Hands Is amazing in this deck. Jyn's lack of modified dice means this card will never miss. It can ensure the 2 damage to finish someone off or get rid of a discard side to set up a claim. Pairing it with Maz's Goggles just seems so good too. It sets up our claims with it's focus sides and ensure we are safe to claim early with it's special and of course resources are never a bad thing.

C-3PO I haven't actually tested him out but I believe he is a good fall back plan for when we don't roll what we need. We can drop him early but we don't have to use him. If we are against a faster deck that is claiming constantly we can take our time and set up more damage. Should definitely be considered and only as a 1 of.

Loth-Cat and Mouse a 0 cost removal. I think this card is garbage in this deck and here is why. Jyn's dice again are amazing and I don't want them ever getting removed. The counter for this is you can play it after they activate and before you do. Well, if you do that then you use your first yellow event that turn and lose out on Jyn's ability.

Infiltrate to me is just very mediocre. I would much rather have C-3PO and Maz's Goggles in the deck at the 1 cost slot. I think Infiltrate's control in the special is just too random. Rerolling dice can be very risky especially without ambush.

I am going to be play testing this list with my changes tonight and I will be specifically looking at the events and see if there are changes I may want to make. The cards I'm looking at mainly are Never Tell Me The Odds, Reversal, and Defensive Position. I've play tested a bit with Never Tell Me The Odds and every time I use it it's amazing but I'm worried the 2/3 cost on it may be a little too pricey and may only be a 1 of. Same analysis with Reversal. But Infamous makes these cards bonkers. Defensive Position is a really great card but a lot of the people I play with have fast decks and can claim just as fast or even faster.

Thanks for the deck idea. I'd been trying to jam a list together when I saw Jyn/Commando spoiled but wasn't sure which direction I should take.

@Scactha How does Training work against Never Tell Me?

Scactha 888

@Dinofishy Never Tell only turns one chars dice, which most often will be Jyn. Thus if we invest into Training on the Commando it can´t benefit.

@JoePa I agree with 90% of what you say.

About some cards you mention; Loth-Cat works for the reason of the cheap bonus dice and especially Commando. The trick is to roll it first and then blow out 2 dice with a Ambushed Loth-Cat and say Electroshock. This´ll cripple most decks turn. But the most important thing is that it hits any die and our dice are all about equal - we have a load of 2. Whichever goes doesn´t matter much.

Fast Hands I'm increasingly cold on as it is only really good with and we don´t have any native on these chars. Resolving sides to gett rid of them for claimis a waste. Better jjust reroll. The extra action and space it takes doesn´t merit its inclusion to me. Sure Maz's Goggles would make this scenario feasible, but then we need to draw two upgrades, play them, which´ll take forever and be stuck with a single slot for guns when we very much need two for overwriting Second Chance late game and still have firepower. In the Goggles scenario this would likely result in the goggles being overwritten very soon rasing the question what impact Fast hands will have after that.

Infiltrate is mediocre and the replacement I'm looking on is just what you suggest; C-3PO. This will allow Loth-Cat to work better and turn Jyns die into an even bigger threat. The problem is tempo. Should we include it as a "nice to have" thing and still aim to claim or a conscious strategy? It´s hard to tell.

Defensive Position is indeed less and less useful in the vein of all the new fast decks. Looking at you Palpatine... I´m of a mind to replace it with Rebel Assault for that reason.

Reversal I just love. The most common scenario will be a swing of 4 damage. That is huge imo. Never Tell is 6+ damage. I don´t like to include them as 1-offs as they are the major swing cards of which I always want to have one in hand if the opportunity arises.

Thanks for the feedback and interest in the deck. I really like Jyn and want to make the most of her.

For Jedha! :)

I working on a version of this. Just putting the cards together but heading down the discard path a little more.

EvilEdwin 1

Played this deck last night and really enjoyed playing it.

I agree that Defensive Position isn't so useful, although I wish I'd had it when eIG-88 rolled two 3 Ranged Damages! I think I played it once all night, so Rebel Assault would probably be more useful overall.

How would C-3P0 make Loth-Cat work better? Sorry if it's an obvious answer, but I'm not seeing it at the moment!

Scactha 888

@EvilEdwin If only C-3POs dice is on the table there´s only one for the opponent to pick from.

Start by rolling him, then Ambush say Electroshock or Let The Wookie Win if they rolled a guy (that´s the optimum use of that card imo) with Infamous followed by Loth-Cat and Mouse.

JoePa 49

@Scactha I really don't agree with that logic of completely playing around Loth-Cat and Mouse. If it's a card in my hand I don't want to be playing around it. I want it to be useful without set up.

Scactha 888

Fair enough. E.g. Confidence is an option too. Loth-Cat has worked for me so far, but it isn't a perfect fit indeed.

Gigaman87 1

What are your thoughts on replacing Rebel Commando with Snap Wexley? I was thinking that he might be an interesting addition to the deck to slow our opponents from claiming before we do.

Scactha 888

Could be, but as he would only add one die I´m sceptical, because we´d want him for the anti-claim ability foremost. He´s a great fit with the 18 cost guys though.

Zonexir 1

As you have Overkill which + sides i prefer to change one of Jetpack into DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol and also one Infiltrate into Maz's Goggles for and .

Icarus 105

@Scactha What do you think of adding Negotiate to the deck instead of let the Let The Wookiee Win or Loth-Cat and Mouse?

Scactha 888

@Icarus Wookie is sort of the Hero Lightning Bolt, thus I´m loath to exchange it in an aggro where it costs 0. I really like it. That said Loth-Cat is annoyingly situational like Negotiate, so that´s a possible.

I´ve unfortunately mostly given up on getting Aggro Jyn to approach something of a Tier 1 deck. The problem is her die is really a support die. Despite the high average 1/3 sides at 2 is not good enough. What the deck needs is a pairing Elite char with a three side damage die imho. I´m hoping for say Cassian as something like 1, 2, +2, , at 10/14.

Rebels really, REALLY need a General Veers - Field Commander char. It´s so annoying trying to fit together an rebel aggro deck in Red/Yellow when the cheapest red true fighter is Leia Organa - Born Leader. They have a bazillion yellow chars, but not decent running mate.
