This list started out (like ALL of the Darth Vader - Terror To Behold lists) with a simple desire to hit people with big dice as many times as possible in a 30 minute game of SWD. Like all of the big character/ little character lists, you're on a clock to do that with the new Darth Vader because when your big character goes down, you typically don't have much gas left to close out a game. This deck is designed to let you resolve Darth Vader's dice as many time as possible as early as possible in a game.

You've all seen Leadership decks before - and some of you may remember the Darth Vader - Sith Lord/ Captain Phasma - Ruthless Tactician decks that were around for a little while last season, from which this deck is partially inspired - but I think this one is particularly effective because of the value you get on Darth Vader - Terror To Behold's dice.

As far as card choices and strategy go, I would advise you to dig for Leadership turn one (I'd say to hard mulligan for it) because a savvy player may decide that a 6 health Nute Gunray - Separatist Viceroy is a better target that a 13 health Darth Vader. Your goal is to activate Vader twice in round one and hopefully three times in round 2 (Hey, The Price of Failure is a thing), which should be enough to send a lot of decks home packing. To facilitate this, I included a lot of draw power and cards that reduce your deck count (Trust Your Instincts, Boundless Ambition, Treasured Lightsaber, Lightsaber Pull) to help find your key pieces early enough in the game for them to matter. Treasured Lightsaber is particularly cool because you can find it with Lightsaber Pull and then get another draw with one less card in deck. I also like playing it, then overwriting it with something that is actually good to have on board (its die sides are kinda underwhelming, though the do the job when they have to).

I considered Ciena Ree - Adept Pilot for the partner here, and she may prove to be the better option as time goes on, but I ended up feeling like her extra health wasn't worth the loss of Nute's passive, which is legitimately annoying and can seriously impact a game if left unchecked for multiple turns. An argument could be made that Ciena's die is marginally better than Nute's, but I would counter that by saying (in a perfect world where your deck is firing exactly as intended) the little character die never sees the pool so that isn't as relevant as it could be.

Anyway, feel free to test or criticize this list, but I felt inclined to share it! Enjoy!
