First things first, this is an exact copy of http://swdestinydb.com/decklist/view/23360/14playerstorechampionshipwinnerundefeated-3.0

I came across the list late in the AtG meta, about 2 weeks before my regional, and it seemed like it had answers to everything, except maybe vehicles. It was only after winning the event that I realised it doesn't have a single AtG card. Maybe there's something there that would make it even better.

How I got onto this:

Early in the AtG meta I had 1x Vader, 0xSnoke, 0xShadow Caster and 0xForce Speed (I sold after WotF because I thought they would lose value - lol). That really restricted my deck building options to mill and Yoda Boush. Boush dropped off, but I enjoyed the progress of Millpocalypse and Yoda-Leia in the netdeck meta, they handled Vader pretty well.

I should say that almost all of my prep in this regional season has been solo due to time constraints. The best I could do was watch regional coverage and any time I have an hour free hop into TTS and play both sides of a matchup. (online against real people would be better but I am not in a good timezone and I wanted to choose the decks I tested against)... and for most of the season I had a bad Internet connection.

Anyway, after weeks of gold fishing mill (it was fine) I heard whispers in the HyperLoops discord about Jon Magnusson getting 9th in a really big regional with DJ Kylo (read about it here). I love rogue (as in unusual, not as in yellow cards) decks that haven't got a lot of hype.

That got me on to how DJ with the right partner could burn down two character lists and the meta had really shifted into two character lists. I tried the JMag DJ-Kylo and it absolutely destroyed Vader but I couldn't get it to beat Yoda-Leia which I felt likely to face. I started chatting in the loops discord about it and SithHolocron told me about how he'd tested with DJ Aphra which had a similar feel.

I tested the first DJ Aphra list I found in the DB (this one) and it crushed Vader and Yoda Leia and millpocalypse. Now granted, I'm not an experienced player of those decks so probably the win % wouldn't be the same if I had a better opponent. But I was still very encouraged.

What was the catch: according to Sith it didn't do well against vehicles and three-wide. I think that's why it didn't catch on. This is really a WotF meta deck and at the start of AtG anyone testing it would be looking at how it did against the OTK decks. I'm sure the answer was, "not well". But no-one picked it up after that.

If they had, they would've seen that this thing is incredible against the big bads of the post-nerf meta, at least the ones that I knew about. The Loops and ABG kept their Snoke-Ciena-Traitor under the radar, which is probably quite good against this (it actually seemed ok, but one goldfish game does not make for a good assessment).

GAMES:

R1 bye R2 vs eVader / FO Trooper - W 1-0 R3 vs Mother Talzin / Iden Versio W 2-0 R4 vs eVader / Nute Gunray - W 3-0

Top 4 vs Mother Talzin / Iden Versio 2-0 = 5-0 Top 2 vs Rex / Cody / Clone Trooper 2-0 = 7-0

Could the deck incorporate more supports or upgrades or would that ruin it? If so which ones? Congrates!

I haven't tested anything but this exact list so I don't know for sure, but I would say that drawing mostly mitigation on every turn is vital so I don't think there's a lot of room for more non-mitigation cards. I could see myself dropping one Reversal.

Whats your opinion on adding stuff like Armor Plating, Ark Angel, and Infamous? I'm in the process of making one with some of those cards.

Armor plating costs 1, but most removals cost 1 and remove on average 2.25-2.4 +/- (can’t remember exactly) so it is a close call with that. I notice people have gotten away from plating for more direct flexible mitiagation. Plus, in this deck armor plating is certainly the worse option because you are not doing two things: BOTH keeping DJ alive AND doing extra damage ping damage. Not that all 1 cost mitigation is that flexible.

In decks with street wise, I usually run one Infamous because clearly speed helps in this deck with double mitigation, but also in case I don’t get streetwise in a hard mulligan in this sort of case where you need it. That will happen 16-17% of the time. If I get a streetwise, that sometimes will buy me a turn to draw streetwise. I actually just built a deck with double down streetwise so I had 3 with two other characters.

The ark works in aphra deck, but not sure about one with DJ where Speed is less important. I think a 1 of is reasonable. I would think if you were running this much removal picking something like hounds tooth or some other sort of resource generator would be better since you’re going to be slow anyways. However, spending that turn getting a money maker out shorts out your removal for a turn. You would ideally do that turn one, but that is where you are hopefully getting streetwise out.
